I like that you speak on the entry level wages because most people talk about seasoned wages which most likely dont apply to anyone looking up these videos.

Thanks for watching and for commenting. Absolutely - there is no sense lying to prospective people that’ll just turn them away. We need to be open and honest so people know what they’re getting into. Also, it IS a great way to make a living and enjoy what you’re doing but you need to put a little time in first. Thanks again and take care out there!

Holy Smokes! Thank you for the feedback. That’s a pretty awesome wage - Congrats! Can I ask if that’s union or non union? What will you be operating and doing? We are always curious about the real lives of our viewers.

Non union, mostly underground utility work. As for equipment, pretty much everything you can think of for dirt work. Pretty big excavators, dozers, backhoes, minis, skid steers. Ext

I live and work in Florida. Came in at $19 to operate excavators and loaders. Rose to $20 after a few months. I didn't have experience on big excavators, just small excavators and skid steers.

Thanks for watching and for commenting. That seems reasonable as a start with little experience and the fact you got a raise after a couple of months. Keep doing what you’re doing and your wage will keep going up right along with your experience. It’s the experience they’ll pay you for later - and it’s quite valuable. Thanks again and take care out there!

I live in Indiana and work a non union job. I started at $19/ hr but that could be because I came from driving a tri-axle. I have been operating for 4 years and am currently at $25/hr. I’m not positive of what the high end is, but I believe it’s about $35/ hr. Good operators are hard to find. If you are willing to put in the work, the sky is the limit.

Here in Washington State, union wage for a journeyman is $53-$56 an hour, full pension too. Cost of living is high here, but even taking that into account it's good pay.

Minimum wage in NY is $15 an hour and based off the national average for operator pay NY is one of the highest paid states to operate in. Most entry level operating positions start at 20-25 and hour with experienced operators making closer to 50 or more. Whatever source you used had to be outdated.

You know of any company hiring in Minnesota I have my letter eligibility for the local 49 that’s our heavy equipment operator union…I just can’t seem to get nobody to hire me. Yeah I’ll be an apprentice as well…but I’m willing to learn and this if definitely something I’ve always wanted to do and now I got the chance too!

Thanks for watching and for your questions. We don’t have any contacts in that area at this time but maybe one of our viewers knows of some opportunities out there in Minnesota? We can certainly look into it a bit as well and see what we can dig up.

Is there any institutions that I will have to go in for a training or I just have to go the university before I can be an operator

Hi Summer Great Question. There are definitely some different schools out there to help you learn to operate equipment. I will be doing a video on these in the near future. My best advice, stay away from schools that tell you it can be done in a couple of weeks. Like any trade, it takes time to learn the skills needed so watch out for the ones who promise you results in 2 to 3 weeks. Thanks for the question and keep watching for more info on this topic.

Thanks for watching and for your questions. The things I recommend: on your resume, make sure all your spelling is correct. If/when given an opportunity - don’t lie about your abilities. Tell them your limitations but also tell them you’re willing to learn - which I’m sure you are. And finally work hard - don’t just do the bare minimum. Hard work will get a lot more than anything else. Things to not do: don’t let them mistreat you. Most places are very good to work for but there are a small percentage that aren’t. If you find yourself at one that isn’t, don’t stay there. Don’t be late - show up on time. Don’t complain about working. If you want to be an operator, you need to be able to work longer hours than most. I hope this helps and good luck out there!

So I can make 30-40 an hour starting?
@SoGoWoWo
@SoGoWoWo 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and for commenting. To answer honestly - most likely not. You would most likely start in the mid to high $20’s. That said there are some union jobs with a very high starting wage. If you were able to get into a union you may very well start around there. Good luck out there.
