Install the Edelbrock but keep the original if you ever wanted to return it to stock.

That’s a really nice commando. It looks very original, and if it is I’d keep it that way. No question about it.

Thank you! That's exactly what I did.

When I went from a 2 barrel to a 4 barrel plus headers, it made a huge difference in power. For me, I didn't care about keeping it stock or resale value. These days, the way to go is the aftermarket throttle body fuel injection. I think I saw that Edelbrock now makes a 4 barrel intake manifold with an air gap, which is what I would go with now if I did it again.

Keep the old on a shelf, update to the new as long as nothing else must be changed, glass bead blast the old paint it wrap it in plastic, ready to reinstall if you decide later to depart with it. Or rebuild the complete engine.

For long term personal use mount the Edlebrock. If not then re mount the ol iron intake.

Keep it light, Edelbrock will be slightly cooler temp wise. Save the fresh painted stock one for the purest.

Keep the old in a very safe place as to never ever leave that Jeeps side; and put in the new. If at any point you start to lose sleep over the lack of originality; slap it back in.

Flip a coin. The 'keep it stock' mantra has its merits as does the idea of using the aftermarket parts while storing the original parts as an option.

Edlebrock. I really feel certain things can and should be done to help with efficiency.in my opinion they also help with the overall longevity of the vehicle.

I say clean up the original and throw it back on. Wouldn’t hurt to throw on the new, but the rest of the Jeep tells the original story and I wouldn’t want to take away from it.

I would install Edelbrock as it’s much lighter for the front axle and steering. This is reversible and you have it….😅

Put any thing that it will make it run better / your not putting a 350 Chevy short block in it / the intake just makes good sense / just keep the o.e.m. parts for the guy who wants it all stock if you go to sell it / there is a sweet Wilis wagon 1952 with only 10 thousand miles on it it's cool as toast but it is a 4 cyl. and sat for 10years in a heated room but it is making valve nose or something up on top tapping away / so if you want to drive it in today's world the 70 year old 4 banger is not going to cut it / unless your so rich you just want to look at it / that's on the buyer / who are you bull shiting you know what to do / it's your ride / Good luck what ever you do / just keep the FAITH / JESUS SAVES / IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IN ONES LIFE / EVERY THING ELSE IS B/S
