What You ACTUALLY Need to Start Solo TTRPG Play

Dang, this is so good! Personally, I use Cairn, Whitebox and Basic Fantasy for my systems. Then I use modified tables that I have personally put together to fit my narrative, along with Hexcrawl maps and a really in-depth journal. Solo play is the way to go! Really enjoying the content you are presenting. A breath of fresh air! Keep it coming.

Your page just popped up on my sidebar and I decided to take a look. I am glad I did. I have been solo playing for.....well lets just say a very long time now. I found all I needed was just a few simple pages of charts, dice and a notebook to write/draw on. (oh and a list/booklet of spells and monsters, depending on what game genre you are playing.) And a totally vivid imagination of course. Do not follow how others play their games. Play whatever feels comfortable to you. I think you are pretty spot on. I will watching to see your adventures grow.

i play anywhere i want using d6. 1= hell no 2-3= no 4-5= yes 6= hell yes. to change the odds, add extra dice (3d6 max) and use the highest if its favourable, lowest if not. document in bullet points, GO. examples of resolution: [ ] does this merchant have the plasma grenades i want? well its a shady black market world so probably. roll 2d6 use highest. [ ] can i shoot the guy running into the crowd? well its dark and you have only got a pistol and he is quite far, roll 3d6 use lowest . but i am a soldier trained in firearms, roll 2d6 use lowest. (rolling a 1 means you hit a civilian).

Trevor Devall has a fantastic solo play channel called "Me, Myself, and Die!" that I would highly recommend! He is phenomenal. I've done a little solo play myself and I have to ask... do you fudge your dice rolls, or let them ride? Whenever I play, the temptation is strong!

You need to be a daydreamer, otherwise you cant solo RPG without a choose your own adventure book.

I get that sentiment! I think you can do it with the right tables and prompts. But it would definitely make it harder to not have that day dreaming kind of mindset!
