I learned more from this video than I have in the last 8 weeks of this semester in my Behavioral Neuroscience class. I had heard Dr. Jill's story years ago and it moved me. However, I am in a different stage in my life where I can now also benefit greatly from the vast amount of info she was able to teach me in just this short time. She has a gift for communicating and teaching. Thanks so much for this.

Our humanity is upgraded simply by gaining the knowledge here that Dr. Jill shared with us. She needs to keep this going so that everyone listens and has an understanding about our brains. Recovery is NOT about retelling our pasts. Recovery is about recognizing the value of our Left Brain emotions and why those cells are there, how they function differently than those cells of Right Brain No. 3. 2's are not there to bring up memories that don't serve us. We should be focusing on (deliberately choosing) the path of No. 3... I've always had a gut knowing there was so much more to Recovery than what the 12 Steps have taught. This blows it away. Such empowerment! I have new insight and appreciation for the connection to my Inner Being and development as an entity with a joyous, purposeful life. Thank you for your podcast.

Thank you Dr. Jill🙏. I was mesmerized by you and all your knowledge which you expressed so clearly. Listening to you was very timely, having has a very emotional week and trying to sort things out. Your explanation was exactly what I needed to understand what was happening with me and to practice self compassion with a better understanding of all the characters of the brain. I’m so happy to have found you and your book. You are a miracle and a gift.

Thank you both of you, especially Dr. Jill Taylor. I have been following your presentations. This a beautiful summary of your book Whole Brain Living. I just cannot get over this. I am literally astounded and nearly in tears from the amount I learned from her in this video. Thank you so much Julie and Jill. I too and very spiritual, but also scientific minded. I would loved to have known what it felt like to be character 4 consciously building Abby and Helen. Her right brain literally created her left brain?!!? I would imagine that to be incredible. I wonder if when she says Helen came back on line and wanted to take over....if it was similar to what is experienced in meditation when we no longer identify with with our thoughts and can just observe them without judgement...EXCEPT IN REVERSE? Holy shit I am literally blown away thinking about all of this. I will not sleep tonight and I am going to enjoy thinking about all of this. Definitely getting this book. I am so excited. She has validated what thousands of meditators say every day. It seems to me hers was a unique lesson to the world and this video was timed perfectly in my spiritual journey....literally when I am in my Behavioral neuropsych class. I have so many questions. I wonder if she is familiar with the Monroe Institutes work called Hemi-sync which is a program which alleges alters your brain wave functioning and syncs the two hemispheres. She also doesn't say much about spirituality, but hopefully she will mention any spiritual insights she has had in the books. I am so very thankful I found this video and your channel and revisited the amazing Dr. Jill. p.s. I am glowing too. I am on fire for this wisdom.

Hi My character 4 is Queen puchu it’s my 2 years old nickname puchu!!! She likes to say Wow!!! And Jill describe her Journey with that word Wow. And how she didn’t know how to speak reminds me of my daughter mumbling to say something. Now I know that in my daughter mind she think she is speaking to me. I love the connection between both of you!!! my character 4 was connected to this podcast. Joy comes naturally sometimes in 1994 I had my first child unconscious I made a radical change from been careless to provide for my first child I was 16 year old. In 2019 my second daughter was born the Joyful feeling came back but the COVID gave us stress. Having a baby in this chaotic time. Gave me time to begin to research first was the sympathetic system to the zygote cell to breathe to mindfulness to calm the left hemisphere and I saw this pad cast. What I learn in 2 1/2years she explain in one hour Love you and I’m In we all one!!

Hi Jill. Just read your "My stroke of insight" book, wow, fascinating! I have a few questions: 1) Does everyone who suffers a stroke similar to you, experience their left brain shutting down and having a right brain / nirvana experience? 2) Does our perception reality exist in our brains? In other words, is there no external / objective reality as we perceive it? Thanks. 🙂

Dr. Taylor, so how can you utilize your right brain in order to make decision for what is happening in the present. Because every moment we are basically living simultaneously in the past, present, and the future.
@JulieReisler2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question Mayari! My understanding is that we want to connect to all four characters when making a decision. Honored to have you here and be part of your journey! Blessings, Julie

I am no expert but I think from what I understand, using the right-thinking brain allows you to consciously work through the problem by engaging the left thinking brain with questions. What does this really mean? Who or what could help me make this decision, versus the left thinking brain simply ruminating over past failures and the threat of future failures.

"The FourFold Way" from the anthropologist and psychologist Dr Arrien Angeles, based on what can basically - with only difference in details - be found in Indigenous and shamanic wisdom and culture around the world: to live, learn and thus grow in life, like a tree, within its naturalness, with deep roots and tall branches, connected with nature and spirit in everything, and balancing the four elements / seasons / (archetypes / quadrants of our brain!) within us : North - air - honor the elder in me - ancestry - truth - wisdom - master (true self)- "I create" - mental body - silence - winter (right, thinking, brain hemisphere) South - water - honor the magical child in me (animus) - creativity - spontaneity - authenticity - visionary - "I love" - emotional body - singing - summer (brain, emotional, right hemisphere) West - earth - honor the feminine in me - healing - observation - healer (shadow)- "I support" - physical body - storytelling - autumn (left hemisphere, emotional, of the brain) East - fire - honor the masculine in me - discipline - action - transmutation - warrior (persona)- "I can" - spiritual body - dance - spring (left, thinking, brain) #SacredNature #angelesarrien #FourfoldWay #shamanism #shamanism #WholeBrainLiving #DrJillBoltTaylor #jungiarchetypes Jung brought in psychology and now Dr Bolt brings neuroscience to show us in another way, what our ancient indigenous cultures, living integrated with nature and spirit, seem to have known for millenia. This is knowledge to help us be more balanced, integrated and thriving individuals and communities, with each other and with Planet Earth

I loved your podcast. I can get enough of Dr. Taylor. However, I have a question that I don’t want to be taken as discounting her experience but rather it’s my attempt to gain clarity. I’m sure there is an explanation. My question is, when Dr Taylor’s left hemisphere of her brain went off line, (the part responsible for memory creation, recall and projection), how is it that she has any memory of the experience at all?
