Any real racism I experienced was inconsequential. Most kids were decent, only a few were hard-core racists, but they tended to keep to themselves. I never received any real negativity unless it was funded by either the Saudis or Turks paying peers to "toughen me up". And I never received any favoritism, as neither I nor most of the people knew I was Iranian. If you let yourself acknowledge and be influenced by peer pressure, then you've lost the internal battle with yourself, and you'll always see their pressure and it will always be with you. I am the son of the former Shah of Iran.
