@@draxkenta2045 well, here the context / explanation that was left out of the vid, maybe due to the length of a youtube short: - After learning immortality, the book of the death still registered Wukong as running out of longevity. Thus, once day when he was drunk, hell sent demons to take his soul. Bad move. He wrecked hell and erase every monkey names in the book of death. The kings of hell were too scare to take his soul again and just let him left. - Well, what did you really expect letting a monkey in charge of a peach garden? He ate the peaches because he wanted to, not really for the benefit of it. - He crashed the party because he was not invited (maleficent style), rather than wanting immortality. Similarly, he took the god pills to "sober up" when he was drunk on god wine. - They actually put him in that oven to kill him, but ultimately make him more dangerous. - The ginseng fruit is the same as all the food in this category. He ate it because he want to taste if it tasted any good, not because he seek immortality. So basically, Wukong only actively seek immortality the first time. The later ones are either accidental results of his punishments or his appetite. Btw, immortality in journey to the west is more like you have eternal youth and infinite longevity. Wukong can still be hurt and killed

@@ruinadotime8374 as explained, the term "immortality" in journey to the west is a tart different from what people normally define immortality. Wukong has neigh invulnerable body and had tanked almost everything in heaven's disposal, but it doesn't mean that he's unkillable. For instance, during the battle against the eagle, lion and elephant demons, they used a special Yin Yang vase to trap Wukong. That special artifact can turned his bones to mush and Wukong himself admit that given enough exposure, he would be melted into a pool of liquid and die. So basically, while extremely hard to pull off, theoretically speaking, he can be killed.

That's beyond immortal, that makes him transcend the realm of reality which means all existence (which includes heaven, hell, all multiverse) is smaller than the palm of his hand. That is why the Buddha trick Wukong by saying if you can leap out of my hand, you can become the new king of the heaven, so Wukong leaps out and travel to the end of the universe but he never left the Buddha's hand because everything is within Buddha's hand so it is impossible to escape. So after Wukong reach Buddhahood, he too has the power of Buddha and therefore his title is Victorious Fighting Buddha, which the author is saying Wukong is now unbeatable not even the Buddha himself can stop him because he is equal to Buddha.

In Chinese mythology, it's believed that when a being goes through spiritual cultivation and becomes immortal, this kind of immortality is seen as unnatural. Because of that, every few hundred years, mysterious cosmic forces create different kinds of tribulations to try and wipe out these immortal beings. Each one faces their own unique challenge, almost like a test from the universe. Of course, these immortals can use their own powers to fight against these challenges. But if they can get their hands on some rare items, like the peaches or special wine you mentioned, it can really boost their chances of making it through.

Turn back if you want, but the 'bad' ending is where you do not complete the full game, not 100% and after beating Sun Wukong in the end, you (the Destined One) will receive the magic headband that binds you to the gods, implying the cycle will start again. But if you complete 100%, you do not get the headband, and after the 6 sage relics get inside you, your character 'smirks' for a brief second, implying that Sun Wukong's soul is in you now and it was his plan all along to get imprisoned and scatter the relics so he can get rid of the headband. Pretty badass, smartass move if you ask me

Final Fantasy 10 has the same core pilgrimage story as Journey but Tidus is the main character while the story is centered around Yuna to move forward.
