Good information. I am close to retirement and thinking of moving abroad. I like how you present the information. you tell us about your experience in each of the processes to get a visa to planning the move. You show us the good and bad. I have not thought about the emotional side of the move. I hope to see move videos from you and stay safe. thank you.

I'm moving there in January. I did the research and have been on it for that last 18 months. Some investment firms have international divisions so, if needed, you can move your investments to international accounts that allow you to invest legally.

If it's not too intrusive with your lifestyle, it would be enormously helpful if you could do some videos on your day to day life in Portugal. It seems lots of people do travel-style videos but not those specifically catering to wanna-be expats to Portugal from the US. As an example, I also like the videos produced by Kylie Flavell (an Aussie in Italy) and those by "Our Journey on Pico Island - Carlos and Laura." The nuts and bolts and what to expect in the day to day is entertaining and extremely informative. I'm guessing you are based in Lisbon, but even in the rural hinterlands would be an eye-opener. This is just meant as a suggestion --- your work here is really appreciated.

Ola Julia. Great information. Will definitely look into the banking issue here in the U.S.. I was wondering could you recommend any reading on Portuguese culture . Keep up the great work. Stay safe and God bless.

Glad to help! That’s a good question on reading about Portuguese culture. I don’t know of any specific books. One thing that can help is checking out how your country compares to Portugal on the Hofstede model. For example, if you compare the US and Portugal, the level of individualism in these countries is vastly different. Here’s a link: hofstede-insights.com/product/compare-countries

Hey Julia, I would love to see a video of how you started your online business. How do you feel that the community of young people are in Portugal? I’m a recent grad and I am really considering moving to Portugal, but I wonder how the community of young people are living there as expats and in general young people from Portugal. Thank you! 🙏🏼
@JuliaRochelleAbroad
@JuliaRochelleAbroad Жыл бұрын
There are tons of young people in Portugal, especially the cities, both locals and immigrants. It can be easier to make friends with fellow immigrants than with locals due to language and cultural barriers, but Portuguese people are friendly. One thing I came across was that a lot of expats come and go, but there are some that stay for a long time and you'll eventually find them

A quick question about applying for a D7 visa. Do I have to have a place to live (apartment etc) in Portugal in order to obtain a Visa? How does someone get an apartment sight unseen? Thank you.
@JuliaRochelleAbroad
@JuliaRochelleAbroad Жыл бұрын
Hi Krystyna, yes accommodations is a requirement for the D7 visa. Some realtors allow virtual tours of apartments, but yes people do rent sight unseen. If you can get something shorter term, you won't have to stay forever if it's not what you were hoping for
