I keep hearing how rare it is, my mom passed away from GBM 4 years ago this Oct.. 8/08/17 Rip.. I asked her "should I have my kids checked?" her response was "oh no they said it is not hereditary" well about 2 weeks ago my 21 year old son was diagnosed with a GBM, so clearly the research is lacking in this department, I only mention it because I don't wish this upon any family.. as of now my son is doing well the Neurosurgeon at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, did a full resection 2 1/2 days ago he is healing well

Both my brother and sister were diagnosed with GBM. My brother was 46 at the time and now 10 years on he is still alive. They say it is the radiation, no traces of the tumor so far anymore, that is slowly but surely breaking down his brain cells. My sister who was diagnosed recently, aged 63, will have surgery tomorrow.

THAT IS AMAZING I'M SO HAPPY TO READ THAT!!! as it turns out the biopsy revealed that the tumor was not gbm it was a rare pediatric cancer called germinoma which as we were told is "exquisitely sensitive to radiation" and I am ABSOLUTELY THRILLED TO UPDATE THAT HE HAS FINISHED THE TREATMENT PHASE, now he is being closely monitored and preparing for physical therapy, this was the greatest news I've heard in many years, among the best of my life for sure

I hate cancer. My husband of 38 years had bad luck. He passed away 3 months ago from GBM.

Informative and compassionate presentation. The standard of care for GBM has not changed for the last 10 to 15 years, regardless of the mutation. Sometimes I wonder if those who were "cured" had astrocytomas grade 2 or 3 but not GBM. It also seems to me that the younger you are and the earlier the tumor is found the better the prognosis. I believe that it is not possible to debulk the tumor completely because these are mutated astrocytes. The problem with cancer, and GBM which I think is the most terrible one, is that we do not have enough resources to really takle this.

I have a GBM diagnosis. I tried TTF and couldn't deal with it. My neuro oncologist through a major hospital has said that if my scans start coming back badly I'm a great candidate for trials. I am at peace with the fact that this will probably just buy me time, but if my being a lab rat allows someone else a cure I only have one thing to say: "squeek squeek sucker!"

Not hereditary? My great grandmother, grandmother, and mother all died from it, that's one heck of a coincidence I'd say.

Do you recommend a special diet like ketogenic for gbm patients and if you don’t please explain why?

I have two sisters that had and have Glioblastoma. One of them past away and now I have a second sister that is going through this. How come my two sisters have Glioblastoma and they say it’s not hereditary. I also lost a mother to Colon cancer and father with lung cancer.
