I love my Knipex pliers. I bought the fancy magazine crimpers, and one of the dies was bad. I emailed the company, they sent me a label, I shipped the bad die back, and they sent me an entirely new complete set (dies, magazine, and pliers) which came very quickly, despite coming from Germany. That's great customer service. It's the only problem I've ever had with any of their tools, so I'm a customer for life.

Are Knipex tools really the best? I don't know because there is nothing close enough to compare them with. So I guess there's that. But in all seriousness, Snap On and Klein really have good stuff too, but across the board in so many tool categories, Knipex has no peer. IMHO, of course.

I'm in aviation, every box has or they will own the pliers wrenches. I also have a 3pc of the cobras. Both long nose pliers, twin grips and 2 pc flush cuts. In the pliers drawer is also snap-on 61cf duckbill and 808cf mini long diagonal cutters. I'll also add the "nickel" pliers soon. At this point I'm not sure if more knipex will be needed but I always hated having sub par pliers so I splurged. On the farm back home I wish I would've known and tried then years ago.

I’m not a brand loyal type of consumer but when I used my first set of Knipex pliers in 1990 I was hooked. I work on one of the few Maxie Melt electron beam furnaces in the world. When you are producing 60,000 pound ingots of governmentally declared “Strategic Metals,” downtime is the enemy. My tools need to work when I do. A warranty is absolutely worthless to me. If a tool breaks there’s no time to run over to HF and get a replacement. I have received great service from my Knipex tools. The one that ride in my side pocket every day last about 2 years before I start to see jaw wear. That’s when they become my home or give away tools. The largest set get into areas and provide a grip that is unmatched. I have never had a failure of a Knipex tool on the job. Since my battle with cancer started 8 years ago my grip isn’t what it used to be. Knipex pliers help me more now than ever before. You would be surprised at how useful they can be with everyday normal life tasks. Thanks for the history lesson. Keep up the great work. Nothing but positive thoughts!!

When you use tools for a long period of time, it's pretty rare that you find a tool that's so much better than every other variant you've tried. Knipex pliers, especially their adjustable pliers, is one of those tools. Basically any form of plier there is, I now default to Knipex. Not every tool is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else, but every tool I've bought from them has been at least as good as any other type I've bought...and way more than you'd expect are head and shoulders above. Their adjustable pliers are so good that I've thrown out all the crescent-style or channel-lock types I used to have. I even use them in cases where I can't afford to strip/damage a bolt, because the parallel clamp of them is so secure and dependable. If you haven't tried them yet, do it, you won't be disappointed.

After 2 years of watching DOT, this 72 year-old, thrifty New Englander DIYer has amassed a collection of a dozen Knipex pliers, buying every one on sale. Why? (1) They make every job easier and faster -- just wait until YOU get arthritis in YOUR hands and wrists -- and (2) they're the kind of tool you can leave to your grandkids. Every time I buy a Knipex, I get that same feeling that I did when I bought my Sawzall in 1984 -- this tool will be with me forever.

My local independent hardware store carries a few Knipex and some cheap no name pliers. I went in just needing some slip joint pliers for a small job in my office. Cheap would have worked for what I was doing but they were out of them so I bought the Knipex. Very thankful that I did. I was so impressed, that's all I buy now for the most part. I did buy some Icon copies that are nearly as good, and a pair of 15" or 18" Doyle because I needed them right then and Harbor Freight was the only place local that had a pair that large. The Doyle and Icon are both great tools but I do think that Knipex is the best bar none and you don't have to break the bank if you watch Amazon sales. You may not get a nice set in any specific order, maybe 8" water pump pliers this month and needle nose next month but they don't cost that much more than Kobalt, Craftsman, or other big hardware store brands if you buy them on sale. They have some very good sales. If Snap On will pick up a nickel, Knipex will pick up 20 cents because I'll have 4 pair for the same price. LOL

A number of years ago, I needed to replace an old outdoor hose bib. It was stuck and I didn't have enough room to use my old regular pipe wrench. I didn't know anything about Knipex but was in a local tools store and saw the Gators and noticed how thin they were and figured I could grip the pipe between the wall and the bib. Wasn't sure about which size, so I bought all three they had. They worked great and have turned out to be the best set of pliers I have ever owned. Have an irrigation system on my property and I routinely use them. I can grip and hold pipes and take of the fittings. Ever since, I have purchased several other styles (especially like the straight jawed ones) and all of them are well made. Can't say they are the best (have several Kleins that are pretty good) but I can't imagine any others being "better".

The grip and ease of use on gas pipes and stubborn nuts has allowed me to set aside my typical 12” Channelock style pliers and 12” pipe wrench and 12” Crescent wrench. Thanks for the KNIPEX review! Being a loyal 3rd generation KLEIN user, switching was not even a consideration until recently. KLEIN’s warranty is now conditional. You must have a receipt for repair/replace it. That’s not an option when you’re on a job. A recent experience with KLEIN’s customer service was so repulsive and demeaning, they incinerated my loyalty when she hung up on me. My search to replace an extensive collection of KLEIN tools led me to KNIPEX. I’ve started small with KNIPEX screwdrivers, now replacing electrical pliers, and working up to replace 1-2 tools per month. I’m not disappointed with the quality.. I am keeping grandpa’s USA made lineman’s pliers, but I think had he experienced what I did, the customer service representative would’ve been told to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine, and all KLEIN tools disposed. Question: Does KNIPEX make aviation snips?

There's a great video showing why Knipex wire cutters are the best. It has extreme close-ups of the wire (both stranded and solid), as well as the impact on the blades. Knipex steel is harder, and they use a 50 degree angle where most others are 45 degrees. When you see it close-up, you can see that Knipex is obviously better than anyone else!

I know which video your referencing I would argue the test isn't valid for the tool of he's testing with and yes the Knipex is better. You can tell it would be just by it's physical build. Because that KZbinr is a Knife Guy. I think he wanted something he could do something with which is why the flat Steel. He could re harden, sharpen and bevel them. I knew right away that the shear included with the stripper what's going to be wrecked by 12 gauge solid core wire. I use their toothless pliers in a metal shop. This pliers has, by itself, saved $50,000.00(US) by enabling us to fix bend errors by my coworkers over the last 7 years. This was accomplished by not creating scrap metal, and remaking parts that would require cutting into new sheets, which are 4'x12'. These pliers will create enough force to completely flatten a bend in 18Ga stainless, and has worked on .125 mill aluminum (aluminum deforms too much and does not allow for a flattend bend. So, if you complain about the cost of these tools, they can pay for themselves. -Oh, and they tighten chrome plumbing nuts without scratches too...

Interestingly, ferriers (or more exactly, farriers) use a pliers-type tool that looks like what you might use to pull out nails from wood. One difference is that none of the pliers today actually grip right at the surface. Farriers pliers do. They can also be used to remove guitar frets because they can grab the frets right at the fingerboard. Luthiers often grind down their nail-pulling pliers to achieve this close grip. Does anybody care? Probably not.

I got into Knipex after watching Adam Savage talking about his diagonal cutters. Love them! I'm gradually adding to my collection, as I see them on sale. BTW, for German names, if you see EI together you pronounce that as a long "I".

Pretty sure they were. Either that or they jumped on it with a exact replica knockoff. Craftsman stopped selling them a while back. I need to replace the button, so i am gonna order one from knipex and see if it fits. Next to my other, though, it looks exactly the same.

Here in Canada, the HD's near me only carry one Knipex tool and that's their 8" cobolt cutters. Only the small shops, like Tegs Tools, can I walk into and see a selection of Knipex.

Yes I have them, and since I got my first ones at a Sears about 2014 I no longer buy any other players brand. I have a lot of older Klein because they used to be my favorite, but I just don't reach for them anymore. BTW that players wrench is absolutely a game changer, if you don't have them your lost! I literally chucked almost all my Crescent stile adjustable wrenches, only kept the giant 14 inch and bigger ones.

I know this is kind of a bad word here, but the Snap On truck that comes to our shop has the full 4 plire set of Knipex. Only problem is it's way over pricedhe wanted like $350 for the set. So I have the 3 pairs from Harbor Freight. They work fine. I do have the really small set of Knipex because Harbor Freight didn't have that size and I wanted the full 4 plire set. Lol.

Great video. I have a bunch of them and most are about 20 years old. Never have had to warranty any of them. All the tool trucks offer them and I have seen them at Home Depot. Pro tip no one makes a better canon plug plier than they do. Great stuff. Thanks for the video. 😊

The "bolt end cutting nipper" 61 02 200 is a beast at cutting and pulling framing nails. I call it my booboo pliers. The cutting edge is at the hinge and it has surprisingly better cutting force and pulling leverage when cutting shiners in tight spots or pulling nails. 16 pennies are just butter.

Yeah, they have Knippex at Menards. My local Menards (Port Huron, Mi) has a few, but not a large selection at all. I think they have one length of the cobra, one length of the channel lock style, and one length of the pliers wrench. I wish they had more. If my two neighborhood hardware stores don’t have what I want, my next choice is usually Menards before Home Depot or Lowe’s. Although, one of the platforms I’m minis Ryobi, so I have to go to HD for that.

Love my Knipex and I have many.. My only regret is that it took me so long to find them. Absolutely the best. If you don't have them get the Twin Grips. Use them more than I ever thought I would. So much so I bought a second to have on the road. I usually get mine on line at Haus of Tools

After years of using universal style snap ring pliers, and being routinely frustrated by them, I finally broke down and bought the Knipex master set. It wasn't cheap, but man do they make dealing with those clips a lot easier. My only complaint is that for what they cost, or even if they charged a touch more, I would like the set to come in a real case and not just the cheesy retail display packaging. Keeping them organized in the future once that packaging breaks down is going to be a nightmare.

I’m new to your channel and throughly enjoy it. That being said, could you please do a review on Wiha and Wera tools if you haven’t already. Wiha, Knipex, and Wera are my everyday tools for my job working on medical imaging equipment. I also use Jet brand titanium (non ferrous) tools when I service MRI equipment. I’d like to hear your thoughts. Also PB Baumann tools (Swiss made) are excellent. Very precise.

I just recently purchased a pair of Knipex locking pliers and I was very happy with the quality. I also recently purchased some Malco Eagle Grips. I don't see a big difference between the two as far as quality, and both are superior to any of the big box locking pliers I had owned before. I also got both pair on sale which made it easier to buy quality tools than suffer with the junk I owned before.
