Thanks again for a great video guide. Will be sharing with family coming for the holidays. Parking and driving is a nightmare, I highly recommend Uber, not much more expensive then parking, we have found it easy and reliable. Also if your planning on meals try to make reservations. St. Augustine is magical !!!

Good luck finding an Uber in this town anymore. They've become pretty much non-existent as of late. That's coming from a local.

The lights seems magical, but as a local, this event is known as a nightmare. Broken property, things stolen, mean tourists impatient with local businesses and their workers, and not to mention physical assault (which happened to several neighbors and local business workers I personally know just on opening weekend, with myself included). Happens every year, and getting worse. Please have fun if you visit, but also please respect the town you’re visiting.

more like 8k people are moving near here a day and we cant keep up with. its a nightmare for us when we switch them on because of the congestion in such a small city, and now a private donor has opted to light up everything on the other side of the intersection down towards king street this year....oh god.

Check out Ocala's lights -- individuals and even whole neighborhoods compete trying to outdo each other with breath-taking, dreamlike scenes based on popular themes. Christmas Castles, lifesize Santas with sleighs and reindeers running through actual forests or fields you can see from miles away; dizzying lightshows set to loud music. Blue Christmas, White Christmas, Snoopy, gorgeous Nativities, Trees, toys, Nutcrackers, sugar-plum fairies, teddy-bears, snowmen, anything you can think of and more. In some neighborhoods every house is lit up. And the rural displays are especially charming. They put so much love and effort into it.

Thx that sounds lovely. I think the whole NOL thing here in town is totally overrated imho. I heard Green Cove Springs has a nice little situation that they decorate 40 trees in the little park there by the water, might go check that out as well :)

This is my hometown, and my brother still works here at the ice plant as a bartender. Please be kind to locals, and tip accordingly. Most places share tips, and a lot goes into the experience and sights. Also please do NOT ride the horses, it gives them extreme anxiety with all the traffic, and they are not taken care of properly!

Do this during the week if possible, much less crowded. Arriving early not only helps with parking, it allows for dining and shopping before nightfall.

We went this evening , just two of us. There were two very large groups at the same time. Because we were not in the groups you had to wait until the two groups were loaded first. Long wait. Will not go again. You would think they would have a section for groups and a section for small families. Very disorganized.

Just got back from st Augustine’s Night of lights. Sorry this was very disappointing. Parking is an Absolute nightmare. If you do choose to come, I would arrive VERY early especially if u come on a weekend. My kids and I got there rather “late” at 5 pm and the parking garage was closed already. They do have park and ride lots but even then one was closed and the one at a the health cent 3 miles north of town required a half hour wait for the shuttle. I will say though heading back wasn’t a problem at all. The lights for me were not that impressive other than the downtown square and some of the hotel lights on the main drag. It was very crowded reminding me almost light the Mardi gras crowd in New Orleans. Sorry to disappoint but maybe my expectations were too high..
@ChadGallivanter3 жыл бұрын
Yes, parking at this time of year is definitely a struggle. We try to get there early in the day, secure a spot in the garage and find things to keep us busy until nightfall. Funny about the lights. I sometimes think there are TOO MANY lights. I would like to see the city have more of an old-fashioned holiday vibe with simple candles in the windows and a more traditional “old world” approach.

Very disappointed that I as a single person, have to buy a whole row on the trolley for 70.00, or 60.00 on the train trolley, as I been doing this for years at about 20.00 for the trolley, I know St Augustine pretty well as I go there a lot because I live in Daytona, so I will do my own tour....not a good move from the city of St Augustine using the Covid BS as an excuse....
