Hi Andrew, thanks for watching and commenting too. It was great to get an impromptu interview with the pilots and see the flight deck. I happen to know quite a bit about aviation so i had questions in my head which naturally came up when i saw the flight deck, however the 9+ hour flight and the very early start with little sleep made this a little more challenging which is why i dont get to the point on one of my questions as i was doing it in one take. Do check out my other videos of TUI and aircraft timelapes on this link kzbin.info/aero/PLgpzS66fiq_dg4YnrpWdLMJ4LFAkmgF0r

Hi Disney, thanks for watching and commenting on my video. Im glad my content provided you with some helpful tips etc. Are you going to Mexico in September or somewhere else with TUI? Generally, I find the flight crew really helpful and friendly. A crew can really make or break the flight, along with the odd irksome PAX too, so I hope you have a safe flight and get some pics to post up after it. Feel free to check out my other TUI reviews, and time lapse videos here kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGScoHernLt3qLs Cheers, Colin.

@@fgfdfdfdfdgbfgd thanks for the info, will have a check and see what comes up. Just watch out for the sky high taxi prices from cancun airport, check online and book your private transfers before you get there, as they ask for credit card details and give you a "discount" which is BS, and ive heard the new Tulum airport is just as bad. Have a great time. Thanks, Colin

Hi mate very interesting video with the cockpit tour. I’m trying to decide whether to go direct with TUI from GLA or go the GLA-LGW-CUN route with BA.
@CDFImages
@CDFImages 9 күн бұрын
Hi Jamie, thanks for watching and your comment as well. I know these routes very well. Depends on your budget. On 14 days holiday there are still seats on the GLA - CUN flight departing 16th June, after this the price rockets. There's approx 20% seats left on this. The BA flights are more expensive. If your going through BA Holidays a lot more expensive for what is basically the same type of hotel, albeit a different option that TUI. TUI are the cheapest, relatively, that is. Their hyper inflated prices are marketing BS. Best advise I can give you is get the total cost of your booking and divide that number by the number of days and then divide that number again by the amount of people. That will give you a very good comparison for checking other similar holidays which are over different durations. As a rough guide I would say £2,500 over 14 days A.I. basis 4 star for 2 people is excellent. As a bench mark the Riu Lapita was going for 2 people in June 2022 for 14 days 2 people A.I basis for £1,800 and now its going for almost 500 to 600 higher. TUI group CEO said earlier this year that demand was higher and so their holidays would increase by around 35%, but just hold off if you can and have everything packed and ready, as if they cannot sell out a full aircraft they will offer last minute discounts. The sales reps will push as much as they can but that's to put bums on seats. Stick to your guns on this and you will get an excellent deal. Also please do check and read at least 10 pages of reviews for eCh Hotel your looking at. The Fives resort in Playa Del Carmen looked nice but gets some really concerned reviews. I know Mexico and especially Riviera Maya really well, so please do your research first, as you will most often know more than the travel agent. Hope that helps. Thanks, Colin.

Also adding a reply to my reply, as I forgot to say, consider flight only options with tui, for GLA option for £279 per person. Consider only hand luggage and don't chose seat options, as cost is kept low. Also then look at your own airport transfers and book Airbnb, put £1k in budget for eating and you can get a cheap holiday. Also plenty of connections to MEX from CUN as well so can go further. Mexico City is safe and fantastic. Please check out my other Mexico videos on my travel playlist as it gives all options and info. Hope that helps too. Thanks, Colin.

Colin, this video is excellent. My wife and I are travelling to Cancun from Glasgow in a few weeks and your video has been extremely helpful. Do you have any advice regarding currency? What should I take Peso and/or USD? Is there an ATM at arrivals at Cancun airport? Can I get Peso in Scotland before I go? If you could help with any of these questions I would be grateful.
@CDFImages
@CDFImages Жыл бұрын
Hi Je11yBe4n, and thanks for watching my video and commenting. I really appreciate your kind words! Ok for me to answer your questions in the order they are please; 1) Currency: I would recommend taking both a mixture of USD and Mexican Pesos. You can also use your card there too, and withdraw currency (pesos) from local banks (use the indoor ATMs only as is safer). Ive been many times to Cancun and the Riviera Maya, rates for the Peso fluctuated over the years with a range from 1 GBP for 18 pesos to when the exchange rate was poor to 1 GBP to 25 pesos (really poor rate for the mexicans I have to say, and who did not want to accept pesos at that point). So to answer your question on exchange, I would say take a ball park of £1,000 in cash (if you re staying in the all inclusive resorts) with a split of 30% USD and 70% pesos. Make sure you have your USD at least 120 worth in one dollars for tips, tips go a long way. For the pesos, make sure you have mostly smaller denominations such as 20s and 50s and 100s. Anything larger will make you look wealthy and a potential target when you go out of the complex into town. Shop around for currency well before you go abroad and divide your currency up between you both keeping it in a safe place, that way if anything gets lost or stolen you dont lose the whole lot. Avoid the airport ATMs at Cancun, they are very expensive. Please also watch again the last part of my video as it has important tips on transport. Also when going out of the resort, take of your hotel bracelet, and keep in safe place out of sight. I would recommend using a collectivo but check with your rep. Please avoid using the taxis as there is a massive disgusting hike in prices which is a blatant rip off. Cartels mostly run the region (its safe to go) but just know Canucn and Riviera Maya is very expensive. I left my resort for 5 days to just go out and see Mexico, taking, planes, buses, collectivos, taxis (outwith the rip off zone of riviera maya) and of course a ferry too!. Please do check out my other videos which will show you other tips on Mexico and of course what its like too. Im going back out there for 3 weeks later this year all round Mexico but happy to answer any other Qs you have. Please have a look at this link for my other travel VLogs on Mexico etc. Thanks, Colin. Buy something to eat in the airplane because you will get only 1 meal.
@CDFImages
@CDFImages Жыл бұрын
Hi Werner, thanks for watching and commenting too! Yes, definitely recommend getting something to eat in addition to the meal. You do get the main meal and then afternoon tea on the long haul flights such as this flight to Cancun, however I would recommend (if you can) either buy a cheap meal deal from the super market the day before and take it through security (which is allowed), that way you can beat the ridiculous mark up on food at the airport. I hear Greggs are making a come back to Glasgow Airport, but I dont know the prices. Last time they were excellent, which was over a decade ago. Failing taking your own food through security or buying the expensive "meal deal" sandwiches at the airport, then purchasing a hot meal on the plane is an option. They are OK. Thanks, Colin.

@@CDFImages modern air travel well past its sell by date. No longer a joy just a trial that has to be endured. Is your journey necessary. The U.K. is a major tourist destination why not enjoy your own country.
@CDFImages
@CDFImages 7 ай бұрын
@@pictyboy I agree airtravel has changed negatively for the most part at the expense of the traveller creating massive profits for the greedy shareholders, however being well travelled, there are a lot of options still out there for the well informed. I dont subscribe to this woke culture, I certainly dont need to justify my own travel. I extensively covered COP26, heard all the arguments, and I challenge anyone who actually wants to make a difference (pointing the finger at the wannabe protestors who try to get the UK, stop oil protestors, maybe if they beleived in their cause 100% they should really try and do the same in China somewhere since they are one of the largest polluters globally - im sure the Chinese authorities would deal with these protestors swiftly, which is why im sure that the woke generation dont do it there). The UK isnt a major tourist destination, certainly compared to a host of other countries. My advice: get more informed, change your outlook and broaded your horisons, literally.
