If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ, you are a child of God. As a child of God, you have received the Holy Spirit, and with His presence has come two major benefits: the power to put sin to death, and the proof of adoption as a child of God.
In Romans 8:12-17, the Apostle Paul declares the benefits the believer has received as a result of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, the Holy Spirit marks the children of God as adopted and is the One constantly reminding them of their adoption. And if you are a child of God, you are also an heir-a fellow heir with Christ.
