We traded our 2014 Gear Up for a 2023 Gear Up base. The base does not have the sidecar bumper/lights, spare/spare rack, but I liked the much lower price. We were surprised to find I noticed the less weight and aero drag on the machine without the extra stuff, which I never used on my previous Gear Up anyway. The lighter machine with less drag is a huge difference. We love it.

Have had my 2021 for a couple years now. I do ride it year round as it is quite the capable steed. It is also a farm work horse. Hauling hay, feed, and bedding material. John in the service department is stellar.

Thanks for the kind words! Sounds like you're putting the Ural to good use!

One option I wish got more attention is the off-road steering stabilizer (not to be confused with the small stock dampener). I had one put on my GU because I’m a smaller guy at 145 lbs, and rocky stuff made it difficult to stay in my chosen line. The addition of the HD stabilizer was a game changer for me, & I’m forever in John’s debt for suggesting it!

This seems a lot better built than the ones from several years ago. Is that the case? Has the reliability improved? Seems like a pretty solid bike if you can count on it not leaving you stranded. Great video.

Be honest, you also heard crickets on the u-joints explanation…kidding aside, thanks for the great showing and time taken to show those dream machines.

The Valve in the Exhaust, just before the Silencer, is that for Noise reduction/testing, Emissions, Torque/Power, or a mix of these?

What issues are there with supply chain or replacement parts for the Ural?
@JamesAllmond Жыл бұрын
parts are from all over the world, warehoused in US...owner for 12 years, never had a problem getting anything, still.

Good dealers like AlphaCars and Heindl Engineering can get you almost anything for Urals going years back. Service is another issue but only because there aren't a ton of Ural dealers. I end up doing most of the wrenching myself.

I saw a Ural on your website for more than 30k dollars. What is included in that price because I've seen some very luxurious bikes and cars for that price?

@@AlphaCars no thanks A Ural is simply not worth the more than 30k you're asking for. I come from the same place, the USSR, I know our bikes. And while they ARE great bikes, they're not worth that kind of money Incidentally, NEITHER is Harley. They're overpriced TOO
@AlphaCars Жыл бұрын
@@fderbar1 @Эх, Леонидыч! Thank you for your input on this topic. A modern Ural is a very different bike compared to what we had in the USSR - different in EVERY aspect; every square inch on the outside and inside was re-engineered to employ modern technologies. If I saw a modern Ural in my days in the USSR, I would think it was a UFO from a superior civilization. I cannot speak for the Harleys. As you know, we did not have them in the USSR in the eighties. Today's Harleys are impressive machines.

@@AlphaCars True Today's Ural is different But not 30k different Some Japanese bikes are way more advanced and are not 30k
@AlphaCars Жыл бұрын
@@fderbar1 Yes, we love Japanese bikes for what they are. The Ural is a substantial piece of equipment engineered and built to carry a sidecar with the 2WD system and reverse. If we add these parameters to a Japanese bike, we may be pushing $30K :) and it will never perform as a purpose-built motorcycle with a sidecar.

I was ready to order a CT once the dust from the factory move had settled, but Ural discontinued the CT. 2WD isn’t something I see myself using, or justifying paying for.
