I just shake my head in awe. Very cool (and, you handled the “interruptions” with aplomb - well done🙌😁. Merry Christmas!

Thanks for this Noel. Also- this is my first Christmas since I learned about the flippening and I can’t believe how common flippening modulations are in Christmas tunes 🤯

Had to comment just for the B9 joke at 8:31. Haha. Had to rewind to get it. Nice teaching too. I’m early stage on guitar, but this is a nice framework for thinking and for approaching the guitar with intentionality. Thanks for the lesson!

This feels like the spirit of Ted Greene. It very much makes me think of his chord studies.

Hey Noel! Love your lessons. Why are you thinking Lydian Dominant for the Bb7 chord again? I don't really get its function.
@nohjoh086 күн бұрын
You could treat it as a regular V chord, but I think it fits better as a “non-functional” dominant in that it doesn’t resolve as you’d expect (going from Bb7 to DbMa). Lydian-Dominant is often a good choice for those kinds of dominants.

@ Thanks a ton! That movement (“VI7 -> I”) sounds really nice to my ears. Any intuition on why that might be? I can’t make any sense of it :-/ Really liked “Voicing Modes” and the Web App btw

You mentioned you have a book. How would one go about purchasing a copy... or if you have more than one? Really enjoying your videos since finding it a week or so ago. Thanks.

Which book is this from? I have your page pulled up, but am not sure which one this is from.
@nohjoh086 күн бұрын
Those chords shapes are from the book, “Voicing Modes” - look in the reference section (2nd half of the book), there are some melodic voicings. A separate page for E string melody and B string melody for each chord type. So, this page I have on the screen is a compilation of 4 separate pages from that section.
