💡 moment: The reason why Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass had such a profound impact on me as an (undiagnosed) autistic child is because Alice falls into a world where the rules of engagement are constantly changing, and the cast of characters refuse to really understand her (except for direct communication Cheshire Cat). I was diagnosed autistic at 29 y/o and it ALL. MADE. SENSE. why had I been saying since I read both at 10 y/o that if people wanted to understand what it meant to live as me and in me, these books get. it. Way before it was clocked I was autistic to BOOT.🐰

As someone with a degree in Japanese studies: anyone whose favourite classic is The Tale of Genji is either not okay and needs some help, or the Japanese literature prof. xD Also, YAY for Dracula! (And for Japanese classical lit, it has to be Natsume Soseki's Kokoro!)
