Getting a C is not great! This is especially so for partially selective school because they generally do not have exams and will be basing it solely on your report + other supporting documentation. work on it more in the future if you don't make it in

well how does your report compare to the one in the video... You want to avoid C's at all cost and try to average A. In saying that though, most fully selective high schools will have an exam so you might still have a shot if you ace it.

Hi John! I want to apply for Sydney girls in Year 10 next year (for year 11). I’m improving my grades drastically, I do martial arts for extra curricular, and I have got the highest bands for everything in naplan (exceeding) with a triangle for writing. But it states in the student portfolio (requirements to get in) that I have to add in results from any competitions I have done, but I never did a competition in my life and I don’t think there is any competitions available this year. Do I still have a chance? Is it necessary to do a competition?

Hi John, I'm currently in Year 9 in the Selective class of a partially Selective school (albeit its rank is in the 400s), and was able to get 7 As (including Acc Maths) and 1 B on my latest report, and I've done 4 extracurriculars. I'm applying for Girraween, Penrith, and Parramatta (in that order) so I will be sitting HAST in less than two weeks but I still feel unfamiliar with its format. Hello there, I am trying to transfer from Parramatta High School to Girraween High School for year 8 in 2023. Last year in selective I missed Girraween by 1.5 marks. So this year, I achieved full A on my half-yearly report with in each test scoring 95% plus. Also, I am aiming to come in the 1 or 2% in the HAST exam. So far, I am practising practice papesr, and my average score is between 93-98%. With these statistics, do you think I have the capabilities to successfully transfer to girraween in year 8.

well, the biggest challenge is that in year 8 there might not be many spots at all. Even if your application is impressive, if no one leaves the school, you won't be able to transfer. Sorry to irritate you with the questions, but like when you're in the selective ecosystem as part of a partially selective highschool, if someone does bad in a partially selective highschool, but still another one does good in an independent highschool, who makes it in?
@pratham28042 жыл бұрын
that depends how bad. And it comes down to the ranks of each school. Because if the partially selective school is in the top 120 and the independent high school is a 300 rank school. And someone in selective stream is getting mostly Bs, a few Cs, and 1 or 2 As, and the independent school person is getting mostly As and Bs. I believe they will take the selective student because they are expected to perform to a certain standard. And independent schools in the lower rankings tend to make their assignments easier in comparison to both selective and top tier private schools.

Hi, I think this is super irrelevant to this KZbin video, but for the Yr 7 NAPLAN Results, is it still good if I have Band 10 for Numeracy, Band 9 for both Language Conventions, Band 9 for writing, but Band 8 for reading. My earliest report has 5a's, 4b's and 2c's, but my latest report has 8a's, 2b's and 1c. I'm practicing very hard for the Science, Maths and English ICAS exams this year, although I'm unsure if ICAS is even considered an extracurricular activity, or the results will even come by the time of the Personal Reflection Statement. I'm also practicing very hard for the HAST exam. I'm trying out for STHS from an independent school for Yr 9 in 2023. Do you think I have the requirements to transfer?? I'm also a bit uncertain about what you meant by internal and external academic achievements, do they including effort, behaviour of some top ranking in each subject certificates?
@richierich29332 жыл бұрын
Also, my school has a particular grading scale for some of the subjects like for example, 91-100 is considered an A, 85-100 is an A, etc.; but our reports also have an assessment mark for each of the subjects. But do the selective schools see your report within their own grading scale or the school report's grading scale?
