It's nice to see someone this open about their financial situation with youtube. Found it particularly interesting because you are a smaller channel, meaning showing off those numbers does not reflect your whole living situation like the big channels, thus keeping that certain sense of privacy you'd expect. I remember subscribing to you during the whole Tana-con situation - it really been a while since then and I hope that growth keeps on coming your way.

That's something that I haven't seen someone else on the platform do. And it immediately endeared me to you because it was clear to me that you didn't just want to make a quick video bashing Lilly because it's the popular thing to do. I subscribed because you are so down to earth and funny and just very intelligent and engaging. It's really rare to find KZbinrs like you. Glad that we're all here. Looking forward to your growth.

It seems like most financially successful KZbinrs have been doing it a long time. 5+ years. I've heard YT favors consistent content, and I think channels will have one-off videos that the algos love (like your Janelle one) that wind up getting a ton of views, which leads to more subs, which seems to make it so the algos are more likely to love you again. I suspect if you keep going you'll have at least one video that hits a million views at some point.

I really appreciate your honesty here and I think it is so refreshing. I run a tiny channel (not even big enough to monetise) but I do it as a hobby with no expectation that it would ever replace my day job as a senior clinician in a hospital. But I am sure there is a huge amount of, likely younger, new content creators who don't realise that education and a 'normal' job is what 90%+ of KZbinrs have to focus on. Instead, they see the big names and instantly think that's achievable. Hopefully, a video like this will give them perspective and they can go in with their eyes open and manage their expectations. All that said, I hope you make bucket-loads of cash in 2020 x
