Hi! First time posting on KZbin. It’ll take me a minute to get the hang of it, but I’ll get there. We are so excited to be able to share some longer format vids and tutorials here. This is an interview I did with Mashable a little bit ago. Part 2 will be coming soon! #hunger4words #talkingdog #dogsofyoutube #mydogtalks #smartdog

There is a case of an orangutan who learned sign language from a young age, but then had to be given to a zoo where he was put with untrained orangutans. The interesting thing is he kept calling them 'orange dogs' and himself 'orangutan person', the implications of which are pretty clear. Learning definitely shapes brain development.

Darwin evolution at its best..how sad he was forced to love in a zoo!!! He couldn't relate with his own and instead of finding him others that he could communicate with, they force him to be with others, that cannot communicate with him. I hope they found someone to communicate with him.

Exactly. It's actually why I'm not on board with this Bunny method. You can communicate with dogs just fine without these buttons, enabling them to respond in a natural way to communicate with you. It's up to US to interpret their language not the other way around!
@pedicabfilms8791

@@zaddyholmes6735 i agree because of the possible outcomes placed on the dog. if his owner dies he gonna end up in a shelter not in a place that knows how to deal with those type of dogs. but i have noticed a trend among white folks particularly in williamsburg referring to dogs as being gods. i totally disagree with this.. your dog is not your god in reverse. A human or a god as far more complex thinking abilities. your dog cant build a house or like Steven Hawkin study quantum physics. i DON'T CARE HOW MUCH YOU TEACH DOGS, THEY WILL ALWAY BE LIMITED. HUMANS ARENT LIMITED AND NEITHER ARE GODS. but because of white folks and certain religious zealots wanting to control and breed people like dogs. they try to make this connection.

We're all the same, the term anamorphism is offensive because it diminishes the cognitive capabilities of most animals, our main source of dominance in the animal kingdom is due to our complex language, we are just giving them a voice for thoughts they already had, we like to think we're so different because of the world we've made, most animals are just a few genes off from being just as capable as us

I love that in the midst of her involvement in the process that she's still skeptical of her dog's understanding of the concepts. That distance is essential in the scientific process. I wish her success - to communicate with one's pet would be a blessing (though a sometime curse).

I used the rival model technique with my dog. We didn't have buttons, but he was able to let me know he needed something and could communicate effectively even with people he didn't know. I was able to ask him about emotions and what he had dreamed about, as well as what he wanted on his tacos. He had an excellent grasp of syntax and if:then propositions. They are capable of so much more than most people would ever think.

@clrtomsett123456
@clrtomsett123456 3 жыл бұрын
soon and later you could presumably teach by delaying, for different lengths of time, giving what she asked for. So if she said 'food' you could say 'later' and given an hour later and if she said 'food' you could say 'soon' and give 10 minutes later. It would take a while but that's how you'd do it in principle? I guess with concerned, if she seemed worried or anxious you'd press 'Bunny concerned', to try to associate the feeling with the word.

I just discovered Bunny's and Stella's Channels and I am completely amazed at what you are doing. You and Bunny are true pioneers and I am really looking forward to following this journey. My best buddy is Oskar, a dachshund who is almost 11and is blind. Adapting to his disability has been a challenge for both of us, but probably more me than him. He has always understood a fair number of words. And that has grown since he went blind. So many times I have wished that he could Express what he wants and needs (he has never been very vocal except for guarding) especially when I find him standing in the middle of a room just sort of frozen and staring. Obviously lost. I have learned that dogs have an amazing internal map of their surroundings/territory, as long as things remain consistently in their places. If he had learned how to communicate with the buttons, like Bunny, I'm sure that even blind he would still be able to locate the requisite button.

I truly love the idea of exploring HOW animals think....because intelligence is not lost on animals they are smart...maybe they are lacking the tools to communicate but not the concept of thought... what are they thinking...and how is it conceptualized by them...I taught our family Labrador to identify all of this toys and I would ask him to bring me any toy I wanted and he almost never failed at bringing me the toy I asked him for...he was smart and understood when I wanted something... Thanks for your efforts in this cognitive exercise....the fact that we have bread dogs for thousands of years for specific purposes proves they are smart enough to understand basic things...wanted and needed in common.

I love this! And I so agree with your statement at the end... the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I say that all the time in this contentious world we live in.

This is the beginning of science though... You find a curiosity (dogs using speech in some form) and explore it. You play with it. Later, others come and detail it, examine and try to quantify it, but right now in the beginning, its all about playing with an idea and enjoying the positive results. I think its neat and when you look at scans and models of dog and cat brains, they are almost identically smaller human brains. Ive read articles that describe a dogs brain as the equivalent to a 3 year old humans, and a cats similar but tends to be more like a 5 yr old because of the density of neurons per overall size. When you think of them as little humans, their accomplishments make far more sense.

If I did this with my dog I would go crazy as she is demanding enough without words… but I have learned her language… I know exactly what she wants just by her demeanor…
