No fear of sending a grouper to the surface for a sharky snack, with a lift bag? I noticed your paralyzer tip is smooth, mine has barbs. You prefer smooth?
@Speedospearo Жыл бұрын
My tip should have one or two barbs or cones on them. don't pay that much attention. As for sending fish up, it has always amazed me that we do not loose more fish to sharks. I had almost an entire 30 lb Amerjack eaten - on the surface I presume, but if the boat is watching and recovers it quickly, almost zero losses. Better than having it on the bottom, that is for sure. Remember we are drift diving.

@@Speedospearo Got you 👍🏽 thank you , I was thinking of getting my open water certification before I even try to buy gear to spear fish , or you think I don’t need it ? I’m a really good swimmer but obviously no where near you guys .

@@Mike1- You definitely want to learn to dive before you try spearfishing. Of course you can spear fish while breathholding in many places - and sometimes scuba gear is a pain to deal with.

@@Speedospearo thank you, I’ll try to start from there 👍🏽 just shallow waters with a pole spear until I get comfortable .

How do you like the enclosed track? I'm waiting for it and still does not show on the website.....
@Speedospearo3 жыл бұрын
I love the enclosed track, it is much faster for me to reload and I can scuba free shaft if I want, but have not done that in a while to be honest. The new ET gun is now available!

@@Speedospearo Thanks a lot! Now my question is, what size should I choose, 100 or 110? What do you recommend?
@Speedospearo3 жыл бұрын
@@eliohernandez3673 I would be happy to give you some advice, but you need to describe the type of hunting, the visibility and the type of fish and also if you are shooting into holes a lot. Long guns are slower to swing and have better range and are needed for clear water.

Enjoy the local videos but I wish they would Close the grouper for a couple years. Wayyyy too many people spear them and I’ve noticed a big difference in the population over the last few years. Not hating by any means but any weekend at the 90’ bar can prove that.
@Speedospearo2 жыл бұрын
They have really reduced the allowable take on gags in the last several years, yet they remain scarece in many areas. I think the state should do something about water quality and restoration of estuaries and juvenile habitat. Thanks for the comment.
@Mizzle832 жыл бұрын
@@Speedospearo yes they did but with modern day electronics they make it easy for anyone to find fish and people will pull right up next to you if your anchored on a spot. I know I fished that 105’ depth A LOT about 20 years ago and we would never see boats out there. Now you go to that area and it’s packed. I think I counted 120 boats there during red snapper season. There’s just way more people hitting it now.
