I agree with your comments when it comes to TOXIC solo Stan’s and TOXIC shippers. I don’t consider Stan’s Army and they don’t consider themselves OT7 Army. The solo era and ambassadorships has brought a lot of solo Stan’s to one or more members, yet they are not fans of the group. As long as they are not toxic, berate, belittle other members, their fans or Army, we don’t have to demonize all solo Stans. All of the members have obtained fans who are not fans of the group. Now these toxic shippers are even worse. The hate campaigns against the maknae line over shipping is demonic in that they even tried to personally and professionally hurt Jimin and JK back in November with the reporting of an alleged relationship to the military. Sexualizing the members with each other instead of just focusing on their music is so beyond the scope of a fan. I like that you block and delete toxic people and their comments. I think the members will have solo careers in addition to group activities for the foreseeable future. No need to insist the members can’t have their own fanbase outside of BTS. Especially, since the color of most of the member’s music is different from the group music. There are also toxic so called Army OT7 groups (50k+ subscribers) out there on Twitter who don’t support all of the members equally with streaming, charting support and playlists. We need to rid the fandom of all toxic people regardless of how they identify themselves.

I've been seeing a very few on twitter recently mention having a plan to deal with targeted attacks from solos/antis because they are becoming so frequent now which I think is a good idea to 1. have a system in place 2. Like you said support the one being attacked. Imo 90% of solos are actually complete antis usually from another fandom who use a bts member to hide behind and do their hateful bidding but their goal is destroy BTS' reputation, Army's reputation, and have the biggest most organize fandom in the world divided or going after each other. I've literally seen leaked private conversations where some will admit to having a solo account made for each member when they hate the whole group. And with Elon's take over changes with having blue checks make a profit off engagement it has intensified dramatically because they can now make money off their hate. Sure people can report them but sometimes it takes a long time for anything to happen and then they just make more accounts.

Sorry this is gonna be so long 🤭.... Thank you for addressing this, Nico. I have definitely noticed more & more of this happening the past year or so. I always find it ironic that people following an individual (if a solo stan) or a group that is all about being kind & being loving & accepting of e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e can be so... angry & downright nasty to others. Even in defending our beautiful 7, please try to do it thoughtfully & kindly. As an international fandom, remember that people may be communicating in a language that isn't their primary language, we've all run into unfortunate autocorrect situations, or just accidentally misspelled or omited a word that entirely changed the meaning of the sentence. Please try to educate or offer constructive criticism instead of flat out attacking someone. If you truly think BTS members are great role models, try to think how they might address the situation. Think of how many times NamJoon has (very uncomfortably) addressed some controversies. He doesn't attack the haters. He explains what he did, why he thinks it's being blown out of context, what he feels he should or shouldn't do about it & moves on... then posts a shirtless picture the next day 😄😄😄. But seriously, online or in real life, please take a deep breath and calm yourself before getting defensive. I really think this solo era, however beneficial it's been for the guys themselves and how much it's given them a chance to shine out as individuals... has been a pretty difficult one for ARMY. As defined by 'those who support all seven members'. A lot of people have joined the fandom because of a single members' music, and simply don't 'know' BTS as seven; they only know the guy who first got their attention. So we need to run a kind of education campaign with newcomers and urge them, kindly and politely, to check out and support all the guys. Apart from that, it's been an absolute toxic playground for the solo-antis, a chance to turn ARMY into a 7-way battleground. My tactic, when I see a solo running off at the mouth about their precious 'bias', is to tell them, calmly, that they are being very disrespectful to their 'bias' and that if they genuinely cared for and respected bias, they wouldn't be doing that. (Like some people who kept insisting JK ought to leave BTS and go solo; I reminded them that he doesn't WANT to, he's said so, and that should be the end of any discussion about it.) And when they get abusive- because they always do- I tell them I'm muting them because they're simply haters; only haters would listen to what their 'bias' is saying and then completely refuse to pay any attention to it, or try to put a personal spin on it, or even say 'Well, he's only saying that, he doesn't mean it.' I remember when they announced their "hiatus," I was watching another reactor and mentioned that it was like gardening. I love how brave you are to speak out on these things that are a real issue for armys everywhere. Thank you for raising awareness. When I first got into BTS just over a year ago and I heard about army and started to learn what it was - I really was put off just like you said because the toxic ones that are not true army were so loud. Luckily I stuck with it and met some real armys that showed me that's not what all armys are like. I have also experienced bullying from toxic solo stans earlier this year and it was truly horrible, very upsetting. I did my best to stand up for myself and the people who I saw with the same views and opinions as me but it left a bad taste in my mouth. The advice I could give Armys is we should stop engaging in a long argument with Antis and solos. We can defend our fellow Armys and Bts but we should also refrain from going as low as them. And by that, I meant insults and doxing. I've seen antis and a couple of solos dox Armys and I've seen some in our own fanbase do the same to them. Honestly I'm not saying I don't feel a sense of relief when Armys get a clapback. but I also worry when it goes to a certain extent that it's become too toxic. I found BTS almost 2 years ago and definitely consider myself an ARMY/OT7. I am 46 and had never in my life fanned a music artist/group until BTS, so to some degree I am still learning how to be a fan. It didn’t take long for me to start seeing the solo stans and bullying. I still just don’t understand how anyone could not love and adore each member, I mean they are all so sweet humble and amazing artists for their own reasons (and like you said, BTS would not be BTS without all 7 members). And I definitely don’t understand the shipping 😏 I find it weird. I will admit that at first I would get very defensive when I would read something negative about any of the guys and though I would give a mature but sarcastic reply, I had to start ignoring all the negative because I was getting very upset all the time, so I just started telling other Army’s that what others think does not matter and to not give those hateful people the time of day or satisfaction of upsetting us. When it comes to solo stans or those that consider themselves OT7 but are ok with speaking negatively about any of the other members for arguments sake or to defend their favorite is completely gross, immature and should not consider themselves an Army and go stan a solo artist. I've been seeing the most toxic solo stans in this year specifically because they released solo projects of course and that made these solo stans give more opportunities to humiliate the whole group except their biases and a lot of shippers. And personally for me most of them are Taekook shippers. And you can check every reaction vedios related to BTS ,and you can still see the hate and disgusting things that's been said about each member by every solo stans and I'm so freaking disappointed when i see that not a single Army even tried to say anything against the solo stans. If the reaction is about a one member than in comments the whole comment section is hating certain members by comparing their records and achievements and they're literally mocking other Army's by saying without their fav. BTS is nothing and other ridiculous things just to start a fight with other Army's and unfortunately they're successful with their tricks. All i can see in every comment section of every single BTS reactions is the most low grade fights between Army and solo stans and Army's with different biases and fake Army's who are indirectly downgrading one member specifically showing their clear hatred towards that member. And most of the time I've seen that some Army's too mix with the solo stans because basically they have same biases, so rather than stopping them they just said yes to everything they said by the toxic solo stans because they're enjoying that their biases being praised right now. And about your topic, if by any chance an Army tries to stop these stupid solo stans, the whole group of Army's weather they are solo stans or haters or antis of some members and fake Army's attacks that one Army so bad ,i mean wheni see those comments it was heartbreaking, they not only attack that one Army but they attack the members or most of the time some specific members by saying the most disrespectful things about them but again no one tried to save that Army. You and most of the fandom need to learn the difference between solos and akgaes. That a huge difference. ARMYs are so toxic towards solos just bc they only like one member. But what do you expect - they got to know 1 member and for example JKs solo music is straight forward mainstream pop. You can't expect them to like BTS Korean music or the other members solo stuff. Ok, this might seem controversial but please hear me out. There is a big difference between toxic solo stans and having a bias and loving all 7. I've been so disgusted with all these fan wars (and SHIPPING) that sometimes, I just want to turn away from BTS. However, I believe that some of the problem stem from OT7 fans, too. There are legitimate issues/concerns that fans of a specific member will raise every now and then. But because the voice comes from someone with a bias, the issues are immediately dismissed and the voice is automatically labeled as "toxic solo stan." I recognize that some people are just hateful and toxic, thinking that by dragging other members, their favorite will shine brighter. However, I also believe that many people who raise legitimate concerns don't start out as toxic. They become super protective of their faves and gets drawn into toxic groups because they feel dismissed, discounted, made fun of, referred to as crazy and "not real Army." I think that one way to heal the fandom is to recognize legitimate concerns and actually look into what the noise is about. That way, we can help celebrate people who have favorites back into a happy and safe OT7 fandom by making them feel heard and not ostracized and ridiculed. And yes, if all they want to do is berate other members, then the right thing to do is just delete them.

But, on a serious note, more reactors need to speak out on solo stans attacking those with various and different opinions that they determine to be negative about their favs in the comment section. There is no way anyone that calls themself a fan can listen to and understand the lyrics to the majority of BTS songs and still chose negativity and hate. Their songs are about love for yourself and others, respect for yourself and others, and coming together as a community. How anyone thinks that any member would applaud the actions of some as support for them is delusional and it's sad!!

even from the beginning of my BTS journey (2014) I always see solo stans as BTS haters. I don't participate in a lot of discussion/arguments because it's just healthier for me - but when I do - I asked them if they can say what they are saying about BTS and the other members to their "fave"... because I'm pretty sure they'll get what's coming. BTS members always see themselves as 'BTS' and will take any hate towards BTS as hate towards them. that's what I always remind myself too.

If I may put my thoughts on this topic here (bcs I don't have anywhere else to).. For me 2023 has been the most uncomfy time online as an ARMY (even considering the 2016-2018 eras) bcs of these solos. I used to be angry everytime I see them throwing names and accusations at any of the boys (some even appears as ARMY, like how can you put tiny 7s on your bio but talk shit abt 1 or some of them??). But now I can't help but just pity them and their useless fight with themselves. What a stressful life filled with hate. 😢 And I'm just very concerned for new ARMYs that don't know much yet and get lost in solo spaces unknowingly. I really hope we'll find a way to deal with this issue this year. 🥲

I think calling fan of one member is not = toxitsolostan so many fan for example become fan of V because of hwarang or celine or Jinnys Kitchen ecc ecc but they're not Army and ARMY's bulling them also. so I think it's right calling these people toxit, not fan or army. I saw a comment on a reaction to the Taemin Suchwita episode that said they had always disliked bts basically assuming they were like the fandom which appears very toxic much of the time. That episode showed them how bts actually is, which they thought was great, and they were going to dive in. Some army forget that how they behave affects how others view bts. I’ll be honest, I’ve said since I started falling down the rabbit hole a few years ago that the one thing that could make me fall away from bts is the fandom. As you mentioned, notice I do not call myself army. What kills me about solos is that they are talking crap about their fave’s brothers! How can you say you’re a fan when you’re disgusting about their chosen family? I’ve stepped in a few times when some were going too far. I spent a lovely evening reporting dozens of toxic idiots in a thread. That was kind of cathartic, I can’t lie. Solos are trying to rip army apart. Half of them aren’t even really fans and are doing this for the sole purpose of breaking army.

I went on a reporting spree once on weverse because there was a mass attack on a young Army who had said something quite innocent that was taken way out of context. The responses were vile, harsh, and sometimes violent. And all 100% unnecessary. Then those exact same users would post directly to the member in a loving way. It was quite distressing. We also have to remember a couple of things - tone is implied by the reader in written communication, so it's easy for things to get way off track; and in an international fan base there are plenty of folks that are using translation apps and that's a whole other layer of confusion sometimes. As long as there's no disrespect involved I try to keep those elements in mind when something sounds a little off. But when it's bold faced negative, or comporting yourself in a way that our fellas would not want, there's a no tolerance policy. We need to be a fandom they are proud of. The saddest Live moment I ever saw was when RM said, "you've changed" in reaction to some comments. Love one, Love Seven.

Going solo is going to encourage solo fans due to the very nature of the debut. Many people have been introduced to the members due to their solo debut activity. In no way, shape, or form, however, should anyone, whether you like one member only or all seven, no one should speak, post, or share derogatory, demeaning, or divisive (I'll include the 3 Ds) content about the members or regarding the members. Personally, I think it's not reasonable to say, like all 7 members, if I've only heard one member perform or a song by that one member resonates with me. These are just my thoughts, expressed kindly.

Solo Stan’s are the worst kind of fan’s….the fact that they only Stan one member of a group and than start badmouthing the rest of them is what makes this fandom so toxic and on top of that they start to bully the real fans…i always say that whoever is in charge of this fandom needs to start weaning out this toxic fans or do something like give them a warning and if they don’t comply with the rules they need to be thrown out of the fandom or have their account suspended just like KZbin or any other social media platforms do with members….other than that I just ignored them because what they think or say is insignificant to me and if we get into a he said she said with them they’ll think that they have some kind of power over the rest of us.

I feel like when more of us speak up and call out the hate, the haters are more likely to back down and hush up. Not so long ago, I ran into a small channel that was expressing an opinion I disagreed with. So I knew mine wasn't going to be a very popular opinion, but I expressed it calmly and politely- and got quite promptly attacked by multiple regular watchers. I was not surprised when they were totally unreasonable and immediately resorted to namecalling and such, I'm cynical enough to have expected that. In among them there was a single comment that said 'I agree with you!' but what really caught my attention was the likes. I only expected one, from the person who agreed, but to my surprise I got multiple likes. And I felt a little bad for the people who left them, because they were willing to show silent support, but they were obviously afraid to have those attackers come for them, too. I thought, 'You know, if you all would speak up and say this personal-insult dogpile behavior is unacceptable, maybe there'd be less of it.' Then again, maybe not. Maybe calling solos and haters on their behavior makes them more likely to double down on it. Maybe the best option is simply not to engage at all... but while ignoring them makes them go away *for us*, they are still spreading their antipathy/obsession for others to see. It's a problem-!

In Korean, solo stans who are actively hateful towards other members are called 악개 - akgaes. It's short for "akseong gaeinpaen" (악성개인팬), "malicious individual fan."

I am Army and have nothing but love and respect for positive influencers who respect BTS. I'm OT7 all the way and do not know how you can say you are Army and be hateful towards the other members. Recently, I was attacked on Twitter by an individual using a member’s name as part of their ID but him/her was only following another group. After I told him/her off..I was blocked. 😂😂

I will be forever and always OT7 but honestly when I first started to get interested in BTS I could have easily walked away after seeing a lot of comments and nasty things that people were doing on the platforms, but I realised that they weren't what BTS stand for and they aren't and never will be Army or even fans. I am 100% OT7. I LOVE ALL THEIR MUSIC. And stream it all. I dont understand why so much hate. They probably wouldn't even have the memebers that is their favs if it was for the whole BTS. JHOPE AND JIMIN were dancers Jin was in Acting school and Suga just wanted to write and produce. Amen. I’ve been on the receiving end of the hate many times. I correct them while they spew hate( unfortunately it’s normally targeted towards Jimin) and remind those in the comments these people are not army. Because you see negative comments about army too. It’s exhausting. I’ve reported some to KZbin. I just feel army took a stand that we would always support and protect bts, no matter what. Hybe isn’t doing enough with some of these horrific post so as army I feel it’s what I promised bts. Protect them. So I will politely call them out. Army needs to bond together and be the force fandoms fear. They said we are the most dedicated, caring, and protective fandom out there. We need to uphold that! I’ve seen many of my favorite reactors leave reacting to bts because they watched videos that solo stans were mad at and bullied them into making the announcement they could not take all the hate. That’s their job to take down bts , don’t let them.
