Kane Hodder told me a story about filming on set for Friday the 13th Jason Takes Manhattan, and while doing the scenes for the ship. He was covered in all the goo and seaweed and it took so long to get him ready, he would have to stay in the get-up for hours and hours each day because it took too much effort to take it off and then put it back on. So he would take naps when some of the other scene's without him were being filmed. And while he was taking a nap on one of the lower decks of the ship, a rat tried to eat his toe.

Gotta agree, it's one of the best, maybe the best movie in the series, but I definitely wouldn't describe it as a horror comedy. While there's quite some levity and gags (e. g. the paintball scene) in the first half, the second half plays out much more like a straight forward horror movie with few things to laugh at (and it does it pretty well, e. g. the stalking through the window, the false scare with the girl and the machete and so on)

The Bit with Pamela not recognizing the older Jason would have worked marvelous if she would have made it into the second movie. After all she snaped as he drowned as a boy. Now imagine many years later Pamela facing older Jason who do recognize her, but not her him. she still could loose her head after screaming at the "stranger" that he is an imposter, that her son had drown and so on. Filled with sadness and rage Jason decapitates her and keeps her head as an memento of his mother. Thinking about it, it totaly could work. Sad they didn't get the chance to work out that idea. It would have a special connection from Jason to his mother.

Jason X is my favorite of the franchise, even though it isn't a Friday The 13th movie by name. Jason X is so cheesy and ridiculous, but in a great way. And it had Lexa Doig. I'd love to see a sequel to it where Jason is in his upgraded form for the entire movie. That was such an awesome design. Freddy Vs Jason is another favorite of mine. Both movies are extremely underrated, imo, especially since mixing GOOD comedy into a horror movie is so hard to do, and these movies do it so well. Okay, I may be stretching a bit when I say they have good comedy, but they're definitely the right kind of cheesy.

It has a great concept, but the writing was weak. The biggest flaw was that it suffered from the reset button where characters would lose loved ones and then just never bring them up again in subsequent episodes for the most part. And the "will they, won't they?" couple were cousins. That's just... an odd creative decision.
