I was glad to see Christopher Lee as Saruman in the Return of the King Extended Edition. However, they should never have cut him out of the theatrical version. It still feels like blasphemy.

Saruman did not die in the Lord Of The rings. Saruman takes over the Shire in The Lord of the Rings through his underling, Lotho Sackville-Baggins. This takeover occurs during the Scouring of the Shire chapters, when the four leading Hobbits return home after destroying the Ring and find that Saruman has enslaved the Hobbits and destroyed much of the Shire. Saruman then industrializes the Shire, causing major changes that many Hobbits resent

I don’t know if this exactly counts since he’s still in the movie; Jeremy Brett in My Fair Lady. His vocals for the song, On The Street Where You Live was dubbed over. The director had decided that Brett’s vocals were too mature sounding for his character (whatever the hell that means). Brett was incredibly upset about it.

The big chill. That movie was a huge hit in 1980s about a group of people who were friends in college and now are reuniting in their 30s because one of their ex friends died and although you never actually see their deceased friends face, there was a filmed flashback sequence in which the character was played by Kevin Costner.

First movie I thought of when I saw this video's title. The fact that Lawrence Kasden gave Costner the role of Jake in 'Silverado' as an apology for cutting him out of 'The Big Chill,' makes for a great story.

@snowdenwyatt62765 ай бұрын
Obviously any discussion on this topic will suffer from recency bias. For several decades the most famous example of this was Kevin Costner being cut from Lawrence Kasdan's "The Big Chill". He played the character whose funeral was the impetus for the friends gathering (in flashbacks of course). The Big Chill ended up being a huge film and to make it up to him Kasdan cast Costner in a flashy role in his next film: Silverado. Costner's performance in Silverado was essentially what made him a star.

Yesterday was an incredible movie. I have it on DVD and the Special Features contains the deleted scene with Ana de Armas. I completely disagree that it would have drawn focus away from the love story between Jack and his long time paramour, Ellie. It was a great scene and I believe it should have been left in the movie. When I first saw that cut scene, I didn't even know who de Armas was! All I knew was James Corden put Jack on the spot and told him to make up a song on the spot and suggested that it be about de Armas' character, who was sitting on the couch next to him. Corden says, "Make up a song about something," and Jack obliged, playing the George Harrison classic, pretending to be inventing it in the spur of the moment. It was fun to watch as the audience is blown away by Jack's "talent," all the while knowing that he was just playing Beatles tunes and taking credit for them. Great movie, and that scene should have been left in!!!

Michael McKean, Troy Evans, Susan Kellerman, Gary Riley and Richard Herd were supposed to have bigger roles in Planes, Trains and Automobiles but a lot was cut. Kellerman is the waitress who is seen briefly when John Candy and Steve Martin's characters realize they were robbed. Riley played the pizza delivery guy who robs them because he felt cheated out of a good tip. McKean is the trooper who is actually in Wisconsin telling them they overshot Chicago which explains why it takes them so long to get back to Chicago in the back of the truck. Evans played the truck driver who actually got a whole week's worth of pay because of the movie's schedule even though he briefly appears on screen. Evans had been hired but his scene wasn't filmed for 3 days meaning he got paid to rest in a motel waiting to be called to the set.
