What about Kurt Angle in 2006? That's my Number 1; the circumstances of his WWE firing, the shock of his TNA signing *a month later*, and the match with Joe that November, which shocked the HELL out of everyone. He went on to have his usual standard of matches with Joe, AJ Styles, Jarrett, Abyss, Sting, Lashley, Drew and many more over the next DECADE, until after his WWE comeback in 2017, when he finally started to visibly slow down. He still deserved better for his retirement though, obviously...
