I can attest to one thing… When you’re that age a lot of your friends do try to convince you that you need that in your life but the choice to do it wasn’t them. You made the choice and it sounds like you’re still blaming them. My friends tried to tell me that I was not living as fulfilled as I could be if I didn’t have them, and I didn’t choose to do it. The first step to actually moving forward with your mistakes is to acknowledge that you made the choice alone.

My parents weren’t involved in my life in a guiding way at all. I saw that my friends were happy and could interract with men easily. I wanted that and they told me I should have one night stands. The first one didn’t work well and I tried it again a year later. After I turned 21 and could drink I got drunk and tried it again. Then I decided never to do it again. End of story. I think it’s unrealistic to expect someone to stand by their decisions when they were still mentally developing. Yes I made these choices but I didn’t fully understand the choices and the consequences. I was very much mentally a child. I take responsibility as much as I can but mostly I just have empathy for myself at that time. Thanks for your input.
