Hey can you explain how late fees work with section 8 tenants? Do late fees apply to the total rent amount or only their portion of the rent?? Are we allowed to charge let's say for example $100 for late fees if we see it to be fit? Are there restrictions? Any laws that we need to know about? I am in California. Please help. I told my property manager that I got approved for section 8. We did a lease stating my portion and section 8 portion. She quit The job and never turned it into section 8 without my knowledge and now I've lost my housing voucher and they're saying I owe the full amount of rent. Is this legal?
