Hi Kevin Very interesting changes in J5, I have used joomla for a long time but i noticed this time round after installing J5 on VPS that the Toggle editor doesn't work, have you experienced this at all?

Thanks for the review Kevin. Looks like I may as well go straight to 5.x as a new build from my current 3.10.12, rather than bother with downloading 4.x?

Mostly yes - if possible go straight from 3 to 5. There are edge cases where certain Joomla 4 extensions won't work with 5 yet, so just test first.

@@Dreamwoodinternational 5 is basically the same as 4 regarding template development. I did make some minor changes to the template but don't have any immediate plans to create a new 5 specific one.

Do we know how long Joomla 4 will be around as I just upgraded a handful of client from 3.5 to Joomla 4?

I read that end of life won't be for about 2 years (not sure of the exact month). The issue I ran into was that the current php version my web host used, had gasped to end of life and since I had to update anyway, I updated to php 8.1 (more secure) and rebuilt with Joomla 5.

I upgraded from J4 to J5 quite quickly without encountering any issues.

Joomla was stagnant for several years but, recognizing that and how much marked share they lost to Wordpress, they charged ahead with features, speed and security and I have been very impressed with it the last 4 years. I sometimes hear the complaint that it gets updated and improved too often! (Apparently improvements are bad...)
