Taking a walk around the town's only square and getting to see what it has to offer. Botriver is about 93 km's from Cape Town and has a population of 10 000. It's situated in the Overberg region and has a laid back feel to, just right for city folk to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city! The place derives it's name from the Khoi who lived here (since 1672) on the banks of the Bot River and sold their butter to merchants passing through. Botter translated to Botter in Afrikaans is the name of the town, Botriver. Today, the same river represents wine, as they say the place is wher real people make real wine! Its has a beautiful hotel, its like stepping back in time when entering the reception area, friendly folk who invites you to experience the hospitatlity of the Overberg. Join me on the short walk and as we check out the place.
