I never thought trainee processes would be mentioned on here ever but let me explain a bit: everything randy mentioned was true however some kpop idols can be trainees for 10+ years and some [in rare cases] can be chosen to debut in only a few months. Trainee years are the hardest years of any idols lives, most of them are in secondary school and sometimes even younger when they’re trainees so they have to be going to school and studying aswell as doing their trainee programmes. The main point I wanted to make is what JJ said about once they’ve been picked they’re sorted and you might think that’s true but it’s completely wrong. If the band isn’t doing well, the company can just disband them even if they have trained for 8+ years and a lot of cases if an idol has an allegation against them be it a bullying scandal [they’re taken extremely seriously even if the allegation is from when the idol was 7 years old and it was a one time argument they had with another kid], a racist scandal, a dating scandal etc. depending on the company, they may be thrown out of the group. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve trained for, if you don’t live up to your idol status, you are gone. Obviously rules depend on different companies but yeah being an idol is never a ‘you’re sorted for life’ thing. Any slip up and you can say goodbye to your career.
