Does it really matter whether Doris Day dies at the age of 97? The internet encourages cultural scholars to be lazy when a legendary entertainer is 97 years young. Then the entertainer dies and the cultural scholars snap to attention within seconds of learning the news. Liza Minnelli has more than two decades to go before she becomes 97. Does anyone have something nice to say about her on social media?

As far as the Hollywood moguls were concerned, TV was still more a foe than a friend. Moviehouses were dying like flies as folks stayed home gawping at the tube. In 1954 Disney was alone in seeing how to hook families by plugging his movies and Disneyland. But big-name feature films were not sold to television until RKO folded in 1957. Stars could promote their latest productions on shows such as WML, but excerpts were rarely aired. As a contract player Doris had to be billed as appearing courtesy of Warners.

Ron Young... You did know that Doris discovered that she was born in 1922 rather than 1924?? From birth records in Cincinatti...she was 97 when she passed in 2019.👍

How embarrassing, John Daly telling Doris Day that he enjoyed her movie, "Young at Heart," only for her to tell him that she hadn't made it, yet.

Yes, it was uncharacteristic of John to make a gaffe like that; consummate professional that he was. But he did recover well from the error. I was, however, surprised that Bennett didn't make some comment about it when they said their goodbyes. Even though Bennett is my favorite panelist he could occasionally be a bit snarky with John Daly.

@@curiouscharacter1 If he had, I think Miss Day wld have felt bad for them both. But NOT herself, as she had such class.

Susan Kelley... Yes, Doris was very kind and good-hearted. Unfortunately, when it came to husbands, she got the raw end of the deal. She always said she just wanted to be a housewife and mother. The career just happened naturally, and it truly interfered with the dream.
