@movingonandup773 The Levy biography has some good things, sure, but so many inconsistencies too, I definitely wouldn't take his word for it on the more salacious anecdotes. Basically, he took a tabloid story no one at the time paid any attention to and just ran with it, the only "confirmation" he has is that Joanne added some memorabilia from the butch cassidy movie - when the supposed affair took place - to a charity auction out of "spite". Nancy Bacon's story doesn't even make sense, if you google her, you'll find her tell all book, but seriously, none of the dates match. She did say they have never had sex because he was drunk all the time, but I think we would've had plenty of raunchy stories to choose from if that was the case, she claimed they were parading around in hollywood to reinforce his sex-symbol status and yet not a single person was able to back her up. Sounds a bit fishy to me. Now, the thing about rumors is that sometimes they're true. With Paul and Joanne... yeah, I think they had something going on for far longer than we want to admit. It's cute to imagine them getting the roles in Long, Hot Summer was just fate bringing them together, but honestly? They were most likely chosen BECAUSE people were already commenting on a supposed affair - regardless of how private they were about it. Rumor has it Joanne only got shortly engaged to Gore Vidal (who was literally living with his boyfriend in Malibu at the time) to nudge Newman into getting a divorce and it worked! He separated not long after.

Me, if I were an actor or an actress, I wouldn't get a tattoo because it would quite possibly present problems when acting, at least in certain stages of undress. Then there are those male actors nowadays who, when they take off their shirts, show the world that once they got the first tattoo, they couldn't stop themselves from getting one after the other, again and again and again, the way Joan Rivers handled getting plastic surgery.

Not for the past five years. I don't remember details, but it sounded like some messy business with whoever the CEO had become (not a family member).
@mauricepowers80793 жыл бұрын
@@mysterysurf4554 correct...the Newman Kids are being forced out of the picture...Joanne has Alzheimer's and what has happened to the business is basically a hostile takeover...this was NOT what Paul had intended...if the Charity Foundation he set up for his Hole in the Wall Camps ever gets corrupted I guarantee that will END Newman's Own company...Paul did so much good and greed is going to destroy it.

Yes, before it was established that there were two of them. I have seen that back and forth trickery on the show a number of times. One time Dorothy Kilgallen's children were on, a boy about 11 and a girl about 9, and someone asked "are you a boy" and the girl said no and then they asked " so you're a girl" and the boy said no!

@WhatsMyLine9 жыл бұрын
Mark Stewart No, I don't know the specific recording that was used here, sorry. I've always been a bit puzzled as to why they ever used "The Toy Trumpet", since 99% of the time they used the same closing theme, "Roller Coaster". There's just a handful of shows that use "The Toy Trumpet". Very odd.

Wouldn't it be great if young people today started watching this kind of show and emulating the same sense of style, the same politeness and poise, and the same grammar, vocabulary and syntax (instead of punctuating with 'like, like, like'). I wore dresses like these (I even SEWED my own dresses like these) and politeness and proper grammar were insisted upon in our home. These shows (which I watched in my youth) bring back wonderful memories.

Dear What's My Line? Thank you for these amazing uploads. I've been enjoying them for several weeks. I was born in the 1960s and grew up watching all of the celebrity guests in the movies, on Broadway and on TV. Such a treat and so generous of you and your time. I love the show's elegance and cordiality of a time past (back in my day we DRESSED to go to Broadway then dinner at Howard Johnson's) and appreciate how you replicate that here with how clearly you moderate. A pleasure to visit this channel.
