What's My Line? - Lauren Bacall (Nov 8, 1953) [CORRECTED]

What's My Line?

What's My Line?

10 жыл бұрын

NOTE: This is a corrected version of the previously posted version of this show, which had audio/video dropouts throughout. Thanks to receiving an alternate copy from epaddon, I was able to splice in footage to cover the gaps, while preserving the original video which was in higher quality.
There are around a dozen shows I need to fix along these same lines, which I will be posting over the next few weeks. It takes hours and hours to correct each show, but I wanted to make sure to get this one up as soon as possible in tribute to Lauren Bacall, and for those who are feeling the recent loss of this great actress. I defy anyone who loves Ms. Bacall to not smile when watching her appearance here.
MYSTERY GUEST: Lauren Bacall
PANEL: Dorothy Kilgallen, Steve Allen, Arlene Francis, Bennett Cerf

You can tell Miss Bacall feels on top of the world here. Young, beautiful, and talented, appearing in excellent movies with a superb actor and an adoring, fascinating, iconic star for a husband; two beautiful children, part of the original Rat Pack group and friends with some legendary figures in showbusiness.

I saw Lauren Bacall live on stage in Tennessee Williams' "Sweet Bird of Youth". She wasn't just drop-dead gorgeous, she was an electric actor, and elegant and....simply fantastic. @@bogieviews Yes, it's really a shock to suddenly see again some celebrity deprived of her conventional "beauty." That's called "ageing". Edwin Rivera: If you really want to be impressed w/ Miss Bacall, you should start at HER beginning w/ the movie "To Have Or Have Not". It's available on YTube now. This was her first movie, but you wouldn't know it from her acting. She was 19 yrs old in this movie, but she damn near melted the camera. She & Bogey fell in love on this set - and their chemistry shows. Bogey used to say, "When you meet her, you'll fall in love with her.....just like we all have!" She wrote a very good book, as well - about how she ended up in the movie industry (she didn't come from an acting family) & her life with and after Bogey died. That book (titled 'By Myself') is now available in audio, as well. She, herself, narrates most of the book - So you can hear HER story in HER lovely voice. If you're interested.

@@kennethlatham3133 Thank you! I'm glad you are interested. My remark was originally directed @Joe Postove whose uncle was a major league baseball scout in the Virginia area for many years and also umpired and played the game. I've also learned along the way that the best way to deal with trolls is to ignore them and not encourage them.

@@loissimmons6558 Hmmm. For a (supposedly) bright woman, it took you quite some time indeed to reach that conclusion, and longer still to put it into practice. BTW, you may want to recheck the definition of "troll." I am neither a dwarf nor Scandinavian, and can assure you I don't live in a cave or under a bridge. "Small conference! Terribly sorry!" Yeah right, Daly, and we're so terribly sorry for you that you have to rub cheeks with and receive whispers from devastatingly beautiful young women like Lauren Bacall. You poor, unfortunate man...we know how sorry you are to endure such constant and dreadful invasions of your personal space.
