Great to hear TK W, I am the same way, just reading it or even looking at photos a lot of times doesn't help me to understand, but having a visual, especially with movement makes things much clearer to me. Great to hear the video helped you, and thanks for watching my friend.

Thanks for the video. How long approximately does it take for carbohydrates to be absorbed? What does it mean when we talk about quick carbohydrates? Isn’t the small intestine the 1° place where they start to be absorbed and get into the bloodstream?

This video was amazing, refined my knowledge completely, except I have one question. You mentioned the polysaccharide starch being broke down by the amylase. (Then it is broken down to the disaccharide maltose, later broken by maltase into glucose?) What I'm wondering is that what strands of monosaccharides make up glycogen and cellulose and what enzymes break them down?

I am shredding for bodybuilding. Is there any benefit to eating protein first before carbs? I know it’s a calorie equation at the end of the day to lose weight, but are there any benefits to what to eat first? My dinner is usually a good protein, some rice, sweet potato and a large serving of baby spinach. I do also tend to eat fast. I know I need to slow it down but do you have any idea if there is an optimal eating order preference for absorption thank you!!
@whatsupdude27784 жыл бұрын
Hey Gary, honestly, I don't know if there is any optimal eating order for absorption as to which macro-nutrient to eat first, however, protein does take longer to digest and that may make you feel fuller faster. So, I think what you are doing is probably a great approach. If you are feeling hungry between meals, you may want to snack on some foods that are high in fiber, like raspberries, bananas or apples, which are lower in calories, have a lot of nutrients and the fiber slows digestion, which can also make you feel fuller. Hope that helps, and keep hitting it hard my friend.

What is the order in which glucose is used in the body? Is it first used for energy then liver glycogen followed by skeletal muscle glycogen?

I apologize if this is a stupid question...How does the body handle excess sugar in the blood? Is excess sugar filtered out by the kidneys, and expelled in urine? The reason I ask is because I'm confused as to how a person can have high amounts of sugar in their blood, assuming they are not diabetic.
@whatsupdude27783 жыл бұрын
Hello Jason, great question, however, there is not a simple answer. Some of the excess sugar will be stored as glycogen in the liver and in the muscles, and some can be converted to, and stored as fat in fat tissue. There is a great article that I will link below that explains this more thoroughly. www.livestrong.com/article/408673-does-sugar-turn-into-fat/
@BEEBEE1593 жыл бұрын
@@whatsupdude2778 The kidneys filter the blood, keeping the blood in it's proper state, removing excess water, salt, and vitamins, for example. Why can't the kidneys also remove excess sugar in the blood? I know that the body can store sugar in various forms; however, I'm trying to figure out how a person can have excess sugar floating around in the blood. That just doesn't make any sense to me. It just seems to me that the kidneys should be able to filter the sugar out, just as they filter out other things from the blood, to give the blood it's proper consistency. For example, the kidneys filter excess water to prevent the blood from being too thin and runny. Sugar thickens the blood, and you would think that the kidneys would have the ability to remove that excess sugar in the same way, to keep it from being too thick and viscus. Am I missing something?
