@@glennstatham960 Gimme a break! I love watching Derek, but the only thing that this guy does like Derek is get's old car's running again (like a million other people), many who have no idea what KZbin even is. He doesn't use any of the words or corny phrase's Derek does. Tools & Fuel? Like he should invent his own or something?

I agree Glenn Statham in part but the actual reason I reckon why Vice Grip Garage subscriptions took off is when he drove his ‘Will it run’ cars 7 to a 1000 k’s home. If Steve did this I think it will peak subscriber interest. Derek puts a lot thought and planning into his ‘will it run will it drive’ content and gets the rewards for his and his family’s efforts. Steve’s a great knowledgeable car guy.

Awesome! Yeah I had the same Riviera ( 64 ) way back in the 70's, mine had the 425 nailhead and a 140 mph speedometer. Mine wasn't stuck and ran like a champ, I raced a 69' Roadrunner w/a 440, down a empty two lane highway, for about an 1/8 mile or so, and blew his doors off. I had another buddy who had a 69 Cougar with a 428 CJ or 429? It's been so long I can't remember which but he thought that thing was it, until I blew his doors off too! Those nailheads had a sound all on their own!

@@whattherust - yes sir, that's a fact, they sure are! A lot of the older drag racers like the old nailheads bc they could take a pretty good licking and keep on going, plus with those smaller valves those things were torque monsters, but they could add things to them to bring the HP values up too, I know when I was a kid, my old man would take me and my brother, in the spring and summers to the dragstrips in central KY here, but I remember seeing a lot of guys running nailheads in something. They've even been known to blow away some hemi's , on the dragstrip anyways, as long they had the right combination of add-ons. But, anywho, take care bud and I'll be watching 🤘🍻

My father bought a 63 Riviera new and it was the most beautiful car I’d ever seen. It turned heads wherever we went. I took my drivers test in this car and used to steal it from my parents at every opportunity and I’d make the scene in it. I wish I had one in my collection now. The 63 had a 445 Wildcat engine and there was no car that could touch this car off the line. It was a real gas hog getting around 15 mpg. But the gas for it at the AMOCO station was 42,9 cents per gallon for the premium stuff. It’s so sad to see that car in such a decrepit condition.

The first generation Buick Riviera (1963 to 1965) had a unique body, window glass, and chassis. Sales of them never reached the popularity of the current Ford Thunderbird. Cool car. My fav. model from Buick. It deserves fixing but as everyday driver, not a hot rod, lowrider with ventilator shaped wheels or bs like that. Just nice as close to factory original as possible. Just imagine it with chery red body and white roof and the original style wheels.

64 Riviera's do not have switch pitch. They have a unique case/valve body and use a standard torque converter.

Replacing the fuel tank would have been a better idea, instead of having to fuel up the carb every 5 minutes. Whomever abandoned it,should have at least propped it up so the underneath was'nt on the ground absorbing every bit of moisture possible. That type of buick is 1 of the best!! & should have never been neglected or abandoned in the 1st place.

why are the windows so clean and clear if it has been sitting so long outdoors? rear seat window looks brand new. maybe it's a dry climate? where is this located? were they replaced recently thinking it would be rebuilt? so hard to know. one of my favorite cars... great choice - subscribed!

Thanks very much! That is an interesting question, and I am really not sure, but the owner may have cleaned the window before I arrived. I know there was a tarp over it for a long time, but it disintegrated with time. You can see a piece of it under the rear tire.

I had the same 64 with a 425 in it before I went into the Navy. Sorry I didn't keep it. It was a beautiful car and I still miss it. Earl
