My grandmother has vitiligo and has raised me since birth, so I never seen it as a problem or something "scary." My grandfather told me how on their first date in the 70s people stared at her and made creeped faces. My grandfather finally got fed up and yelled "what the fuck you looking at?! Anyone got a problem with my girl?? Come tell me your problem!" Grandma was embarrassed, but she said it was the first time someone stood up for her like that.

@WishForStars3 жыл бұрын
Same, I did not like her saying that at all. She was just being herself and didn't even do anything "special" to draw attention to her skin. Most people wear cropped tops nowadays and they don't get called out for "showcasing" their skin. I've even had sepsis from my eczema when my body is basically an open wounds that cracked and bled whenever I moved. That's happened a lot. Had lots of steroids like prednisone in my lifetime too. And wet dressings all the time. Using my hands can get very painful and cooking and cleaning becomes impossible. I get very self conscious when I know people are looking at it, but much less than I used to. I'm sorry you've had such a hard time with skin disease too.

Haha thank you. It actually happened to me, that a massage therapist didn't want to massage my arms. I can empathize with the fact that he probably felt really uncomfortable though, I don't think there was anything hateful behind it. But yeah, with scars you also get some stares or blunt questions now and then. The thing that bothers me most is that a lot of people will see you as 'a cutter', even when your scars are 15 years old. I don't want to be remembered of something that's in the past and I don't want it to shape how people see me, but it often does I feel. Like when I'm sad, I'm scared people will automatically see me as depressed and when I'm genuinely happy, I'm scared people will see me as borderline or something, thinking I will go from happy to cutting later on. It's a pity this form of self-harm remains visible. So many people harm themselves in different ways, but it's not seen the same way (think: self hate, binge drinking, binge eating, extreme dieting/exercise, addictions, staying in abusive relationships etc).

juanchy cardona dont forget all the crap she probably went through as a kid. Also her particular vitilago pattern is extremely balanced on her face, i doubt most people with it are glad to have it. Personally I couldn't care less, and I think she's drop dead gorgeous, especially once you hear her and recognize the inner beauty is there to match

Not a good thing though everyone is beautiful in they're own way and winnie has that REALLY PRETTY face so that's the reason why you started admiring vitiligo seriously?!what if someone didnt have that model like face but have vitiligo would you not tell them that they're rocking it I'm being honest you sound like a person who definitely wont say that to someone other than winnie that she looks great with it STOP JUST STOP
