@@444riya That is true. I feel like kids should have some leisure and go to places to eat. I might "inadvertently" drive them to eat healthier without them realizing. But at the same time sometimes we need to enjoy ourselves. I am the type of person to encourage healthy eating, but I wouldn't make someone feel disheartened because of how they are. Bullying someone for their insecurity is disgusting.

I know this is an act but if a child needs to lose weight, the whole family needs to take part and change their diet too. The way I see it is if your cousin let's say did good in school and got an A's it would not hurt to have a treat cause she earned it. That is why the mom was at the doughnut shop to reward the girls, but its not fair to reward the thin daughter, but not the other daughter when she said she got better grades and she has been healthy all week. Was not fair of the mom. I struggled with weight it can take time. Its all bout monitoring your portions too. If I was that mom yes I would give her 1 doughnut, but that will be her only treat of the day. cause remember kids are still growing too. The mom was sorta right but its not okay to humiliate her daughter and make her feel worse than she already is. She is 8 and who knows she could grow up to be beautiful. The best thing to do is teach kids about portions. I use to be over weight but now i lost 37 pounds. It took me a while but I did it.

That's the right way to do it! You don't even need to mention anything about their weight, not even say "oh look you have lost weight", because they probably wouldn't notice. My dad used to call me a cow when I was little because our mother left and my grandma used to compensate and show extra love by feeding us more. She now does the same with my little sister and my dad does the same with her. It's hard growing up thinking you are fat, then learning you have a disorder that actually stops you from keeping weight off. I actually was suicidal and depressed from a young age due to body image. Don't hurt your child or compare them to your other "perfect" kids or people's children. You may think you're helping them but you are not.

I think it’s important to stop being afraid of these terms. Some people are fat, some people are skinny. There are heathy fat people and unhealthy skinny people. What’s important is being healthy and honest about who we are. When we’re afraid to acknowledge our own and each others’ weights, it creates more stigma. The only thing that would be wrong about someone’s weight is their health, it shouldn’t be seen as an insult to be fat.

That therapist is so good with handling this situation. It’s crazy, she even said she was trying to understand what the mother was thinking. More people need to take in others points of views before judging and criticizing them. And the older man that supports the girls weight loss. Other people almost encourage her body type, but not that man he is honest and tells his personal experiences of having problems with weight, the mom just needs to encourage her in a better way.

Yeah being overweight is not just about look. Cardiovascular disease, diabetes, even cancer risk goes up for obese people. Not to mention the bully a "big girl" might get at school. But seriously you don't bring your kids to a donut shop and only have one of them getting the sweet unless the child herself chose not to get the donut.

The real parents are the ones responsible for the girls weight. If a kid is becoming a lard o then they are consuming more calories than they are burning. Don't let them do that. Problem solved.

At 5:01 that look in her eyes broke my heart, she is on verge of tears.. this guy was awful. She said "i think i look fine but my mom want me to be thin like my sister, do you think i shoukd look more like my sister?" And he agrees.... i would lost it if i heard that. She wasnt acting at that point, she internalized that... you see her sinking inside. It shoukd have stopped there. These kids should not be subected to this. That will always stick with her. Some adults shouldnt be speaking to childern about self their body image in a neg way especially a man. The cameras should have come out right then, shame on the host fir not protect this child!!! Poor baby

He was just trying to save an innocent child from having the problems he has, and the way you wrote this comment seems quite interesting, especially, "Some adults shouldn't be speaking to children about self body image ESPECIALLY A MAN." What is wrong with telling children to be healthy and what is wrong with him being a man?

There's so many issues here 1. If a child is overweight, it's not the child's fault but the parents fault. The child's obesity is simply a manifestation of the poor lifestyle choices made in the family. In a circumstance where one child is fatter than another, the ENTIRE family, needs to ensure they have healthy eating habits and normalise exercise. 2. It is very problematic, and potentially damaging and counterproductive to instil in kids that donuts are treats or rewards, and fruit or veggies are basically not and are kinda like punishment.

@Aubrey Frye In a way, you just said that sometimes it's actually exactly the parent's fault. Unintentional fault, but the fact is they are the reason the kid ended up with the genetics they have. Of course, though, genetics doesn't doom you. Lifestyle/diet/etc. is what truly determines how you end up. Genetics just determine how much of an impact those elements have.
