She had committed Suicide because of the fake buyout by that Guy. The Courtesan who poisoned that Guy was a close friend of the Big Sister of that Little Girl.

A piece of information they omitted here during the case was that after the rich merchant canceled the buy-out at the last minute, the little girl's sister who had fallen in love with him was so devastated that she committed suicide. Essentially, he's the cause of a courtesan's death, which is the extra motive for the entire brothel to want him dead, especially the little girl.

they also omitted in prev ep , that the courtesan, the highest lvl one. doesnt necessarily sell their body/sleep with customers, they just sell arts, like dance, sing, play chess. i think that is important because everyone think these woman is just ur average prostitute.

Imagine thinking you're going to escape the life, found love even, and then told you're going be used and abused by just about anybody because your prices drop. Interesting that nobody of the people I've seen on the western side of the net seem to pick up on charcoal being used as a toxin-binding treatment. It's something that is pretty common knowledge in eastern Europe, and you can buy the tablets of "activated charcoal" for pocket change in every pharmacy. It is effective, if taken relatively soon after poisoning.

Charcoal infused clothing Is a feature of everybody's protective overgarments for CBRN ( chemical biological radiological and nuclear) protection. I think the manga did a better job with nuance, but it’s a show and they only have a certain amount of time. Sorry this is long. Big fan of the channel! I think someone else mentioned it but they aren’t regular sleep-with-men-to-make-a-living prostitutes. They’re courtesans. They train from Mao Mao’s age and younger to have a talent of some sort, singing, dancing, an instrument, painting, poetry, etc. so they’re really more like influencers and pop stars. Women in the rear palace will base trends off of the courtesans, like the poison face powder that came and went in the red light district way before it got to the rear palace-that’s how Mao Mao knew about it. There’s every chance that if they are talented enough, like the women who Mao Mao calls sisters, they won’t HAVE to sleep with anyone. People will pay them to perform their artistic talents. They’ll have a rotation of clientele who come to appreciate their art, and with that income they can sleep with whoever they want or not. They can keep their client pool as small as they want if they have big spenders. Two big things to keep in mind though is that the virginity of a courtesan is sold at a premium, like it’s truly like BIG money. People will take out loans, bankrupt themselves and their friends for the chance to have a courtesan’s first night. Like as much as or more than Mao Mao’s sisters make as celebrity courtesans in a session. The other thing is they won’t get to be courtesans their entire lives. They have to find something to do and somewhere to go once they age out of being desirable. Some become teachers of the next generation. The old woman who runs the brothel, for example used to be a courtesan. And the position of a live in mistress isn’t as sordid here as it would be in our society. It’s a roof over their head, and if the man is wealthy and has multiple wives they might not have to do much but continue to pursue their art. THAT’s a buy out. Best case scenario. Like obviously it could go very bad in all the obvious ways. What the rich guy was doing was claiming he was going to buy these women out, then taking their virginity, and sending them back without paying for either the price of their virginity OR taking them into his household. So they don’t have monetary worth as courtesans and have to sell themselves as run of the mill prostitutes. It’s a monetary loss for the brothel who payed to house and instruct the woman her whole life banking on an eventual massive influx of money- when Mao Mao says the rich guy has “ruined the merchandise.” It lowers the reputation of the brothel and puts all of the other women’s livelihoods at risk. It also puts the woman in question’s life and safety into question because there’s no guarantee a woman in that situation can stay at the brothel anymore. There’s none of the brothel’s safety rails in place. It’s basically a death sentence if she has to become a regular prostitute sleeping with anyone to survive. So you can see why people in the brothel are BIG mad and willing to kill this man who KEEPS doing this to people. He’s playing with the lives of people who don’t have options. Like he didn’t just dump the little girl’s sister he ruined her entire life, career, security, and existence just cause he was horny. BUT! He is still the son of a wealthy man, so if he was found poisoned in their brothel the rich guy’s father could make all of their lives hell and have their brothel closed putting ALL of their lives at risk. The old woman who runs that brothel thanks and over pays Mao Mao’s dad because they have quietly saved the brothel and everyone’s lives.

Like bruh, if you'd actually paid to buy that girl like you'd promised you'd be able to get laid with a hot mistress every night. If you can't afford it, just don't make any promises in the first place and you can keep going back as a regular customer. He seemed to be rich enough to afford it, so I really don't get why he raised her hopes only to cancel at the last minute unless he's just that much of a douchebag.
