Nord is all about whether it does what you want. I have the Stage 3 73 and it’s perfect for my main work: Cover gigs in a wide variety of styles. I just need something that works, sounds great, and doesn’t require deep programming. The 3 sections, A/B panels and split functions are perfect to create any patch for any song. No need for a 2nd keyboard. For the cost of a good 2-keyboard rig i have one that does what’s needed and is MUCH lighter to carry around. And i haven’t spent big $ on a Motif or Kronos where i’ll barely touch 10% of the features. Just get what gets your job done best and what you can afford. Great video!

Man thanks so much to both Sebastian and Randy for this great content. Sebastian you always put out quality content, and have a great dialogue with your guests, it's dope to sit back and hear the wisdom you have. And Randy... man you've taught me so much. Not only how to set up my sounds, but how important is to be correct morally not only musically. That stuffs so crucial, and important to hear. A lot of musicians we look up to, may show us cool licks and runs but aren't sewing into us what really matters, and it's that wisdom and straight talk of how we should be living right. Like you said God is watching! Honestly, appreciate all those nuggets you give us. So much you've said has stuck with me, it's much appreciated. Can't wait to see your new content on KZbin, we all been itchin' for it!

I purchased the 76 key version recently because it weighs 27.5 lbs. I wanted something that wasn't going to do a number on my vertebrae. The Korg Kronos was my first choice until I looked at the weight. When I worked in a recording studio in NYC, that was not a concern as most keys were in place. However, many players need to travel to gigs and rehearsals in addition to studios now set up in singers' homes as well as church coffee houses. I am surprised weight is rarely mentioned in great videos such as this. Thanks for this beautiful presentation! Randy is incredible! Probably the best tutorial on the net. Take it from a man who owned ARP 2600 and 2500's an eon ago!
@DevinShoulders Жыл бұрын
Yeah the stage 4 is out now. There are too many similarities between the Kronos and this board for. As of now the Kronos isn't carried by korg but I'm sure they'll reintroduce the kronos in some way in the future. I'd much rather travel with a heavy board that does what I want sound wise than a lighter board that doesn't sound as good. I was able to get it for 2k. almost 6k (the new nord) is too much to still not do what the Kronos can. Plus everyone sounds the same on it already -_-'

I liked the in-depth review of the kb, and it told me that I would never use all those sounds and capabilities, so I will just hold on to my Nord Electro 3 which also has a decent organ and a bunch of sounds I can still download from Nord website. Unfortunately the ram is much smaller so many of the newer sounds can't be downloaded to my board. But there is enough to keep me happy. Great job both of you and great Spiritual Word at the end! I find that with Electric Pianos & Clavinet it comes down to tweaking the Amp section in conjunction with the effects. Dialing in something like a Rhodes + Amp/EQ combination, or Clavinet + Amp/EQ makes all the difference, plus getting personal dynamic settings setup. Takes a bit of time but is so worth it in the end. Same holds for using EQ on the Organ sounds etc. And I am still squeaking out the sounds on an older Stage 88 EX :)

The synth bank is very small (450gb?) I tried to upload some of my own sounds and had to delete sounds from the library in the first instance. I found the stock sounds a bit "cheezy" and over processed. It took too much time to make them right. (That's my weakness in "sound design.") After the church bought one, it has become the most expensive Organ/Pianos and most unused keyboard. No one has the time or interest to tweak the synth to make it usable.

No it’s definitely not better than the Nord Stage 3. The only thing better is the polyphony, automatic faders and piano options such as ADSR so you can cut off, and edit the piano how you like. Sound of pianos are subjective but Rhodes and Synth side the Nord Stage takes the lead but Dixiebell is catching up. Dixiebell and Nord will go head to head for sure in the near future.
