the original version of "butterfly" has gsoul singing the first verse and then wheein sings the second, towards the end they come together which is beautiful. on this clip wheein sings his verse and she does such a good job singing a bit lower. in the behind the scenes clips of her preparing for "water color" we see that she practiced belting while running to be able to sing well while dancing around and she's so good!! i really like your reactions :)

Butterfly is my favourite of Redd! I would suggest you to listen to mamamoo's Goodnight from their Travel album. There's a part of wheein's singing in acapella and that is gorgeous!

Yes, Wheein is fantabulous! And I agree with all you said, especially about her stylistic choices that other vocalists have expectations on. You're a fan and have studied her enough to know that yes, this is VERY Wheein, very reflective of who she is , her individuality and her artistry. I think that Wheein is actually the most skilled singer and dancer in the group, and it's understated. Her performances speak for the sheer talent and skill/technique execution. It sounds pure and soulful, and her voice has a lot of texture and she mixes it up. Btw, the 3 minute songs (a bit more, and sometimes less) was an adjustment for me. I get it, It's a money saver for the producers/company, but as a listener I feel short-changed after years of getting 4-6 min songs. Not sure if it's just a trend or will be ongoing. At least in Mamamoo concerts they extend the songs a bit longer because they have a live band and can afford to make the songs a little longer.

Thanks for being so supportive to Wheein's album and taking the time to point out the techniques she uses and how well she chooses and uses them to express the emotions and moods of different songs. Redd has been on near constant play in my inner ear and it keeps growing on me. I have a back problem and usually wake up several times a night and lately each time a different song from Redd is running in my head as tho it's been the soundtrack to my dreams. lol It's too bad some people feel Watercolor is underwhelming and disappointing that it seems to have dropped off the k-charts already but this is an album that's going to stick with me long after I've forgotten most of the current hit songs. The other thing about mini-albums is that it's easier to construct a cohesive album with less songs and I think the sense of cohesiveness doubles the impact of an album. I find those are the albums I go back to most frequently and it looks like Redd is going to join Mamamoo's Blue;S and Hwasa's Maria as my favorite mini-albums by these girls.

Here is an other recommandation if you want a solo artist coming from a band : Kang Seun Yoon, from the band Winner !! He released a solo album too, called Page, and his songs are awesome. He has one of the most beautiful and deep voices, in my opinion. His songs Iyah and Captain are my favorites from his album !
