Juho x For a lot of people it's the mental side of things that causes them the greatest difficulties, especially if it's depression or something similar that goes hand-in-hand with their disability. Though with the right support network they can also be overcome in time.

A lot of people watch this and take away "bravery" and "taking action"; but I'm just blown away by his inventiveness. Not having legs was just a hurdle for him. Being able to move fast and do backflips was the prize and he made that happen. I think that has less to do with bravery and conscious perseverance/ work, and more to do with being innovative and not seeing the pitfalls for what they are. Whatever the case may be, this guy's a champion in every way.

He could inspire some kids who want to skateboard/bike but feel they can't because they're trapped in their wheelchairs. Build sturdy wheelchairs for kids who want to be active and be accepted by their communities. Awesome Wheelz!
@vermilliongecko5 жыл бұрын
It needs more than sturdy wheelchairs. It takes parents, teachers and society not being overprotective of disabled people and saying 'what if you get hurt?' Disabled people get treated like babies FAR more than able bodied people. I'm a disabled adult and I'm not allowed to take the risks that other adults take because venue owners say it's for my own good. It's not wheelchairs that trap people - my chair represents freedom to me, I've travelled the world in it. People's attitudes are FAR more restrictive.

@vermilliongecko5 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick, I'm also a wheelchair user. Hope you don't mind me giving you some advice. Firstly, use positive language about yourself and your disability, and that includes your wheelchair. I assume you're not strapped into your wheelchair 24/7. So instead of using the negative term 'wheelchair bound', just say you use a wheelchair, like a short sighted person wears glasses. It's a useful tool, nothing more. You'd be able to do far less without it, right? So love it. There will always be ignorant people who make fun of disabled people. Just do your thing to the best of your ability and ignore the haters. But if they ever intimidate, threaten or physically hurt you, please report it as a hate crime. Best wishes, my friend.

My 8 year old son asked me today if people in wheelchairs don't get to do PE. I showed him this, and a few other videos of Athletes in wheelchairs. He said and I quote," thats f-in amazing!! I wish I could do that." Thank You for your video and this teachable moment!!
