Very enjoyable video. As a woman in her mid 70s, with a Renegade Trailhawk, I've learned/decided that for some trails, it's best to just enjoy them vicariously through a well done video such as yours.

As usual great video. A few comments. Loved the history of the pass and the kilns. As a solo off-roader I wondered what the Wheeler Pass was like. Appears that the beginning and end would suit my entry level skills, but not those big boulders in the middle. Easy for you, though. Also your son's Xterra did well on this trip. Nissan should never have left the SUV race, they should have improved the Xterra.
@JKsouthwest4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! The trail really is stock friendly. The couple of rocky sections are easy to navigate through even with a stock 4x4. I totally agree about the Xterra. Nissan is really missing out by not having an offroad worthy SUV, especially with the overlanding craze.

Did you have to air down for this trail?
@JKsouthwest3 жыл бұрын
We air down for every trail. Airing down increases traction, provides for a smoother ride, and increases resistance to punctures. But, you don't need to air down for any trail.

Can a 2wd with a locker do this trail?
@JKsouthwest6 ай бұрын
@@steveguillory7568 I have not been on this trail since the heavy rainy season we had last year. I know that some sections were washed out, increasing the challenge. But in the past, I would say “Yes” a 2nd with a locker should be able to make it through the trail. Thanks for watching!

Just curious about the pressure in the tires. Went up here last week and didn't deflate tires. Luckily none popped. After Willow Springs I was confused about which way to go because of the limited signage. Followed a road that paralleled 95 for a couple of miles and then turned around. Does anyone know if the map at AllTrails is accurate for the main route. Not interested in any side trails since my son and myself will be going up solo?
@JKsouthwest3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! Airing down will help soften the ride a bit and make your tires more resistant to puncture. The trail can be a little confusing to follow since there is no signage. Hopefully this link works here in the comments: www.lasvegasjeeptrails.com/jeep-trails/Spring-Mountains/Wheeler-Pass/

Are the turns tight? How hard would it be for a 1/2 ton fwd, no lift, ko2 tires?

@@JKsouthwest I learned about their collapse just this year from another youtuber. Seems the people shooting the videos never saw them complete. I think it was 2011 when I was last there. Amazing they stood so long and now leveled. They had a fence around them at the time. We got in anyway to explore. Our trip included Carpenter Canyon. It was my first time on wheeler pass. Hopefully not my last. I had a great time.
