Not sure how anyone could think that Geordie accent was Irish! I have lived in South Down on the beautiful Lecale Coast on the shores of the Narrows, the entrance to Strangford Lough, for 20 years. Moved to marry my Irish (ex) wife. No longer married but still here, two kids, two dogs & recently a 2024 Street Triple R. Ireland is beautiful, but then so is my native Derbyshire, but the pace of life is slower, the geography, culture, history… I still love England but whenever I go home it’s just too busy for me now. I’ll be staying. Love the story about your wife … no judgement. Good on ya fella.

Great story I always thought that everyone in the North of England were far more easier for us irish to get on with.We always had more in common. Jack Charlton lifted our spirits here so much he could have ran for president no bother. Safe biking.

Great story Dave, thanks for sharing it. Your wife has great taste in Land Rovers too! I know how you feel about Ireland, I'm 75% Irish, born and raised in the UK but whenever I go back, i feel at home immediately and pick up with my family where we left off on the last visit. Great story Dave. I was bought up with Irish priests in a town in New South Wales, Australia and reflecting back on those times we thought we were more Irish than Aussies, as the Irish accent was very much part of our life. I feel now after 74 years more Irish than Aussie!

Great story Dave, Jack was a national treasure, I used to live in West Cork when I was younger and he'd come down to fish in Lough Bofinne (?) once a year. When that happened we were pulled out of school to go stand beside the lake and watch the legend himself. Thinking back on it now, poor Jack probably just wanted some quiet fishing time and literally HUNDREDS of people would turn up to watch a man fishing. Not sure he ever caught much fish to be honest. 😄 P.S. never would have guessed Newcastle from your accent!

That’s so weird mate, it was in Bofinne where we went with him. We even played a practical joke with our reporter about a sighting of the Bofinne Beast which Jack went along with for the craic. What a small world. 👌💪
