Wheels, Tires, and a Powerful LS Engine! The Cheetah Gets Her Growl - Stacey David's Gearz S9 E10

Stacey digs back into the Cheetah project by finishing up the stance with custom wheels and tires, and then goes through the in’s and out’s of putting a classic Hilborn fuel injection on a modern LS engine….and the dyno numbers show that the engine likes it as much as you will! After that Stacey sits down with a budding car designer that is making a big impact everywhere he goes and there’s also a tip on the importance of seals and gaskets. It’s all about getting out and turning wrenches, and you’re only gonna find it on GEARZ!

Cobras were built on a production car called the "AC Bristol" in England which is a four banger engine. Whereas, the Cheetah is a total custom built with custom tube space frame built solely for racing. Less than 32 cars were built.

For years Ive been yelling about putting filters on stacks etc, why build a hot engine and skip out on the filters? I used to work on imports, and clients would remove the filters on the stacks that you could stick on dual Webers etc, because they were ugly so is the cost of rebuilding an engine, foreign objects going down an engine, bends valves, puts holes in the piston and destroys the combustion chamber, hats off to Stacey about this issue.

I am guessing looks is not a factor. As he stated they need at least 17's to clear the brakes and these will perform 100% better then the old style. The old style looks better I agree. But he wants it to perform.

Me personally, I would take the air filters and have them color matched to the a color that is highlight in the bay, and than powder coated. Imagine the broken necks if you use red.

I remember Finnegan on Motor trend put those stacks on his hemi and the filters cost him 200hp on the dyno.

its cause he is using a supercharger. And i would doubt that he looses that much. i am willing to bet he was just was exaggerating. to loose 200hp your making stupid serious power.

+kris johnson 200 horse power probably is an exaggeration but I've read articles on that style filter costing 40-50 horse powering on smaller engines than this.

First saw the cheetah in a car n driver in 78 I think it was. Told all my friends and the thought I was pulling thier leg til I showed them the article. While most kids had exotics from Europe on thier walls I was the only kid with a Chevy that put all of those Ferrari's to shame. Still would like to know how you can drive that thing without torching your left leg cause the headers are about 6" away but that's what ya deal with to drive an animal like the cheetah.

It’s a cool car. But $65k (plus shipping) for the roller as first seen on the show, it’s way out of range for most. Then again they want a fortune for a rolling chassis of a cobra replica as well. With car the built up, you could of bought a used Lamborghini for the same money.
