I LOVE your parents .... whenever they're on it makes me happy. Oh, and just a little hint about the compost ... I got a "trash" container that hooks over a drawer in my kitchen (it also "expands") so I can just sweep onion peels, carrot tops, and all other organic stuff when I'm preparing food ... then when it's full, I take it out. This is, of course, in addition to the covered compost bin we keep under the sink ... for some funny reason, the open one doesn't stink and when it's pretty full it reminds me to empty it.

It was so interesting listening to Chyna talk about your daughter's difficulty eating! I was like that when I was a kid and as I've gotten older, I've realized what an inconvience that must have been to my parents, but never really considered how much stress it may have caused my parents, wondering about my health then and into the future. It must be such a challenge and worry. I can at least say in my experience, I grew out of it! One thing that was paramount for me was having to talk to someone else to request my weird eating habits, as in, a waiter, the school lunch staff, another person's mom. I felt comfortable being a picky eater with the comfort of my doting mother, but as soon as I had to start articulating those needs to strangers, it became easier to just eat things how they gave me; and guess what, I started to love those things! Now, adventurous eating is a hobby of mine! Love you both, thank you for sharing this beautiful video!
@logicandlaughs2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm a parent to picky eaters too and that really helps. My oldest is a teenager now and has started to explore different foods more... I still worry that he didn't get enough nutrition during his formatives years though... as a parent... it's always on our mind. It's so scary to be the ones trying to keep other humans alive and thrive.

Thank you for sharing this, it gives me some hope as a parent of a picky eater!
@thenopedetective2 жыл бұрын
@@logicandlaughs this is quite old, but most foods are fortified enough that no one is seriously missing nutrients if you have bread/milk/non dairy milk/pasta. May not be the best compared to fruits or veggies, but likely enough to prevent serious issues. I was a very picky eater as a kid (grew up on crackers and peanut butter). No issues as a 30s adult.
@winslow87792 жыл бұрын
@@thenopedetective love this addition! My parents were great about sneaking in enriched rice or things like Boost shakes into my diet for added nutrients. Still, it's a stressor wondering if your kid is getting enough, on top of constant comparison to other kids/parents. So glad there are options out there, but I also have hope that interests in other foods (including veggies!) can grow.

The poop shoes and a poop bin cracked me up. My hubs and I are dog trainers and we've done boarding/board & train for years. We have backyard shoes by the back door, a garbage can with a garbage bag in it, and one of those swivel poop scoopers that you put a grocery bag in. The poop is essentially double wrapped so it doesn't smell assuming we take the big bag out on the regular. It has worked out really well for us!

As a full time mom to a 3 year old, hearing Chyna talk about her struggles to feed your child really resonated with me and brought me some peace. I'm glad I'm not the only that feels like that (Kids have to eat everyday??). It's been shockingly and unexpectedly one of the hardest things about caring for my daughter. Breastfeeding (which was incredibly difficult) was easier than this. She hates virtually anything I cook so she's living on yogurt, cheese, crackers, etc. At least she happily eats her vitamins so that helps me feel okay about her lacking diet. Solidarity, Chyna!

Life hacks for dog poop collection - shoe box near yard door with easy to slip on shoes - coat hook near same place with old hoodie top (both of these are also helpful for getting ready for gardening chores) - spare plant pot nearby to cover the mess until it is less “fresh” or a more convenient time! Way less poop being walked into our home these days 🤣

Suggestion for Chyna: My son was also fickle with food. What worked for me was having him with me while grocery shopping and asking him to add two new items each week (1 healthy, 1 less healthy). Week 1: pancake mix, carrots. Wk 2: brownies, berries, etc.
@JHaven-lg7lj2 жыл бұрын
My grandson was eating so few things that the doctor sent him to an occupational therapist, and this is one of the most important things they prescribed. Part of the key is that the child has to be willing to at least try one bite, and the parent has to accept that most of the new foods will still be a “no”. Like you said, it’s completely normal for kids to eat a really, really narrow range of foods for a while, and as long as you keep offering new things and can keep it from being all about control (on both sides) she’ll eventually start eating more things. You’re doing great, try not to let it get you down too much!

The video is called "These 4 Tips Changed the way I cook for my family." I watched a ton of cooking videos when the Covid got me. Anyway, he was talking about his daughter and trying to cook healthy for her and how to make dinner easier to deal with when making meals that he and wife like, but ways to change them up to deal with their picky kiddo. I found it super helpful for me, so Chyna may want to take a look. Fabulous video as per usual. Thank you for what you do!!

Hope it’s ok to provide a little unsolicited advice re the dog poop - best answer we’ve found is a dog latrine. We essentially made a raised flower bed out of pallet wood, lined it with plastic and filled it with bark chips. We trained our dog to pee and poop on it and it’s basically a giant litter tray for the dog! We made ours relatively large for our boy Loki, but if you have a smaller dog you can decrease the size. Poops are SO much easier to scoop up, and our lawn is poop-free! The bark chips are great at keeping the smell down and they help the poops dry out quickly. Then we try to make it as easy as possible to go out and scoop: we have slip on shoes (crocs), a rain coat, and a stack of poo bags right next to the door. Thanks for another great video ☺️

I think if she would have had it earlier in life it may have helped more ( a parental regret I have). Maybe give feeding therapy a try. For us dinner became a place of stress and frustration. I felt like we tried everything. I completely understood your stress! Big hugs.

Feeding kids! This was a huge stressor for me when the kids were little. We called our daughter a breatherian because she ate so little. Panic city! At one point, I went to great talk about feeding kids and the message was put the food out there, give them options and then let them decide what and how much they will eat. Do not force it. Once we began to do this, her eating got much better. She was picking up my stress. She is in her 20s now and still doesn’t eat a lot but she loves to try new things and she enjoys cooking. She has told us that she doesn’t ever really feel hungry but she knows she has to eat. The other kid was also challenging but in different ways, he has a great appetite but is lactose intolerant and has other reactions to various foods. Also, what she liked, he did not and vice versa. But! It gets better and you get savvy to what things they like and will eat. We always made sure there was one component of the meal they would like and there was an expectation that they would at least try a bite of the things they didn’t. Also, when they are old enough, give them choices before hand so they have some control and ownership. Feeding kids-you would think that it would be easy but this was one of our big challenges.
