ugh... the reason why Whelen sirens don't have slip rings is because it distorts the audio so they decided to use an oscillating system for a clearer and louder sound....

It's pretty sick seeing one of these running on the newer controls. I never imagined we'd ever see one running a 560 Hz alert, even though this was just a special test situation. It sounds punchy considering it's an electronic siren probably pushing 40 years old. Side note, your camera seems to be doing the volume leveling thing that mine started to do a while back. The audio sounds rumbly as the frequency sweeps. I wonder if the 540s have some kind of defect in the mic. I disassembled mine to see if it was a loose wire, but everything was fine under the hood.
