The saddest part, to me, is how difficult this disease/illness most likely makes relationships. Even with family, I could see it interfering. Think about how annoyed you can get just from simple things your family/friends do. Now imagine living with someone with tourretes. I can imagine social interactions with new people can be very draining for everyone. Not saying I view these people as lesser, just saying that for myself personally (and I'm sure for anyone else) these tics would get annoying at a certain point, maybe even anger inducing, which is made worse since these people have no control over it. I legitimately cannot imagine living with that.

I know a Tourette’s and now she is in her 20s she has become a lovely young lady. She is doing so well. She looks after two apartment blocks in Lloydminster . She lives on her own near to her Aunts and not far from her folks , and grandma and grandpa. We wondered how she would ever make it. Had lots of bullies in school but would give speeches in front of the class. She did pretty good in her classes. She is a very smart gal. We all love her.

I have Tourette’s, and I recently found out I had it, it started with my face twitching and it turned into my head shaking, me yelling hey at other people and saying gibberish. It is really annoying especially when I am walking through the store. And I am about to get a job in a few weeks so I am preparing for that. So I can tell you it is really annoying. I don’t want to be at the McDonald’s register yelling HEY at people, but I got to work somewhere.

As someone with Asperger's, that it the hallmark of my life -- saying the quiet parts out loud, and almost always offending someone in the process. From what I've been reading it seems like Asperger's is a bit like Tourette without the tics. What they both have in common is that It's got nothing to do with intelligence; it has everything to do with awkward social interactions, lack of impulse control, and the inability to properly read cues as to what the other person is thinking/feeling, etc.

I have Asperger's and it seems like there is one big similarity with Tourette: Saying the quiet parts out loud. I've battled that my whole life and now that I'm almost 70 I've taken a different approach. I do my best to control what I say, when, and to whom. But, TBH, I really don't care any more. I've become way more comfortable being by myself. It's a lot less hassle, and I enjoy my company, and my humor, and my thoughts.
