The issue is, Base didn't misread logs. He literally says in this video that he checked every room in that area after 5up vented, and didn't see him. When Base saw 5up magically come down out of nowhere, he knew that 5up either vented or walked in outside of his vision, so he checked the logs. While 5up's logs should look fine on their own, Base and others also triggered sensors which buried 5ups original movements before he vented (which proves that 5up didn't walk in recently, and he must have vented in). This made 5up look REALLY bad, I don't know why Base didn't push harder on that.

Every sensor has a cooldown so it can only detect one person every few seconds. That's why it wasn't reading some people's movements. Logs aren't very reliable because of this.

Not sure if it's what you were saying (if so I read wrong at first) but according to the wiki the cool down is per user, So it'll see two people go by but not if the same person goes by twice in 5 seconds

Base explained why he thought 5up's logs were odd. Base checked all the rooms around the area, and didn't see 5up. 5up then suddenly came down from tree room, so Base checked logs to see if 5up vented in or if 5up came up normally and base just missed it. While 5up's logs should look good on their own, some time had passed since he vented out, so other people's sensor triggers buried his first movements and showed that he didn't walk in any time recently. That's why 5up's logs looked bad, Base legitimately caught him for good reason.

He checked tree room, and the rooms around it, and 5up was not in any of them. Then a little while later, 5up walked down from tree room which was empty not too long ago. The logs confirmed that 5up hadn't entered the room since basetrade last looked inside it. Meaning 5up had vented in.

Day 58 of teaching his viewers, how 5up knows when his impostor partner kills: The kill button will flash for a frame. It is very easy to see when in a vent as the number sticks until he leaves said vent. It is noticeable when cool-down is off and slightly less so when his own cool-down is ticking. It is possible that this flash has not been noticed by you, the viewer, on KZbin due to the fps of videos being 22 for the lower resolutions vs the game running on 60, showing this for a single or two frames at most. If you want to see this 100% of the time, change to at least 720p.
