I was trying to demonstrate how fast the motor would charge a battery for very low voltage when an unexpected large back EMF killed the driver circuit.

I came for a BOOM but left with only questions and a reevaluation of my time management.

Did you have that charge controller connected to the output of the driver then to the battery? If so that's what happened because its not letting the backspike through which fried the Mosfet
@make4255 күн бұрын
@@windpowerandmore6310 no, the charge controller is on the isolated L2s and L3s. There's no rectification on the driver circuit. But the back EMF battery.

@@windpowerandmore6310 and it's happened before. It be pounding a battery and boom. Could the driver coil be pushing back on it's off cycle to much? I never thought of collecting half cycle from the driver circuit.

@make425 I think the gate fried if you had the resistor in that I sent in the circuit board. You have the right resistor in it now just monitor the heat on that resistor and adjust it to more resistance if getting warm or lower resistor a hair if stays cool. That resistor is key to having max efficiency with different input voltages. Seems you have it working pretty good now bud

@@windpowerandmore6310thanks for replying buddy. Question though. If I want to run 36 volt. What do I need to do. It gets smoking hot when I do 3 battery's in series Do I need to do anything with the two wires that are twisted together?.
@windpowerandmore63104 күн бұрын
@make425 you just need to put a resistor with more ohms try 3k ohms

Also lad I would recommend using some Heat shrink wrap so that your wiring is more safe for you and generally less likely to injury you and if anything was moved that touch's the bare wiring may cause a short circuit and cause a possible fire which to avoid that possibility better, which you put electrical tape on it I can see, but still heat shrink wrap is recommended for this.

@@zephyrlyon6678 I agree, most of the wires that you see are the output coils. Not much current. The input side from the driver circuit is good. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.

@@A13tech it's more about building a super-efficient motor. Very nice torque and power for less than 6 watts of electricity. The rotor weighs over 20 lb itself. But thank you for the comment and thank you for watching.

@@make425 What is super efficient ? It is a rottary machine with a lot of looses in friction and winding impedance. Does not matter how many poles. Very close to very efficient are nowadays Xiaomi EV motors.
