I had a contract with General Electric when they ran Knolls Power Laboratories in up state NY to cut the trees along the power lines I had a 100 foot cable plus the 100 foot on the skidder we cut a lot of trees that way I had a JD 440 b my cousin ran skidder I would cut a little then he would winch a little we never had one tree hit the power lines. Is that a timber jack 225 or 230? They were great skidders That is some beautiful Ash you are cutting. Thanks for the video

Get yourself a cheap small handheld range finder with a built in angle detector. Walk away from the trunk and take an angular reading up to the highest point of the tree. Keep walking until the reading is less than 45 degrees then you'll know you're beyond where the tip will hit the ground. Might save your life one day..👍 You had a nice sharp blade there...👍

@@olskoolloggin9761 didn't seem too bright to me. Taking the skidder around to the left pulling the cable around the tree behind it would pulled the tree in the same direction and allowed the skidder to be moved out of the way. I've laid down several trees and managed to keep from putting one on top of any equipment so far. Get some snatch blocks for that cable and you can make it any direction you want it to.
