@@Jimmy9298 It's annoying with anime titles, but it is a reality of their source material. It is supposedly significantly easier for a web novel to draw readers if it gives away plot in the title. And web novels need readers to land the light novel deal that can land you the manga deal that can finally land the anime deal.

It's even worse than that, the man has an extremely limited vocabulary. I didn't even realize that could be a problem with videos. I normally have KZbin running on my second monitor while I play games like Helldivers 2, and this dudes abysmal vocabulary was so bad, it started grating on me. I have never before hit "Do Not Recommend This Channel" before for or since for that reason. It genuinely shocking how annoying it can be when you hear the same 6-10 words used in every sentence of a video.

i dont have an issue with a youtuber reading articles since i work and need someone to read them out. the issue with yong is that he just reads and has one of the most blandest safest takes to ever say. he even says the things he knows his audience will agree with. he doesnt say anything new, nothing risky, just nod to the masses and make that green. i sometimes listen to asmongold since he says some stuff that can anger people when it comes to tipping, issues with the gaming industry and others.

I dont get this sentiment. They are youtubers. They all read articles. They spend their entire day indoors. Their idea of a social life is typing online or teaming up with other unemployed people to be indoors with. They are not journalists with a badge that go out to get the scoop first hand. They get their news just like you. You are an article reader too. Using article reading against them seems poorly thought out lacks a certain self awareness. Most people who have an active life and work, have a family, etc etc.. dont have time to go online and search for news all the time. They might when a topic comes to mind here and there. But what these youtubers do tends to be more of a convenient way to get the news. They can play the videos in the background or on headphones while they go about their day. They not only read the article but they even read other articles, they read comments, they give their own opinions, they tell you how the public has taken the news, they tell you what has happened since the news broke out, etc etc.. some youtubers are better than others some are more trustworthy than others and as time goes on and as viewers find different youtubers they curate who their 'go to' youtubers are for certain news topics and who to avoid.

@@kami_oniisama9884 It wasn't a video but social media activity. Yong for some time had been advocating for the "only play VA parts that match your representation" commentary (ie only hire black people for black parts, only hire gay people for gay parts, etc). Then he was considered for asian roles in Yakuza but was prohibited from auditioning for non-asian parts and went on a social media tirade over it which ended up with most responses pointing out that it was what he was pushing for. That, combined with his performance in the game was considered flat at best did not help.

The only problem with YongYea is that he's a mold of most "honest game reviewers." KZbinrs after they reach a certain status become the same level as most media companies but they still pretend like it's 2010 or earlier where they're still this little guy in a big big world. Just gives them an opportunity to become corrupt without thinking anyone will know what they're doing, heck they might even trick themselves into thinking they're not part of the problem despite doing backroom deals to trick thousands of people into possibly buying a bad game or a scam.
@asahira7834
@asahira7834 6 ай бұрын
Yea, I agree with this very much. In my opinion it's not even a "if" when you mention opportunity to be corrupt. He is corrupt. When CDPR (or any big corrupt corpo for that matter) offered him a early review copy, while not allowing him to use his own footage, he should have declined. As that is not fair to his viewers. He could have waited for the game to release, then bought it for his own money, and review it a week later. Sure he would get less clicks and free marketing from the publisher, but his fans(sick!) would still be there for him. Instead he took the money, and ran with the propaganda. So yea, in essence he is very corrupt now. He shills for every big corporation/publisher, and is only complaining about something, when it's allowed to do so by the mass media. He is now a part of the establishment, and will do everything he can to stay there.

It's an issue I've kind of had with a lot of these guys for a while. One thing I never got is why so many of them and the fans in their space go in so hard on "journalists" when youtube is in itself a platform with 0 quality control and any person can upload whatever they want (within legality and even then youtube is HUGE to police). Why are a bunch of dilettantes LARPing as the "true journalists" we all need? It probably doesn't help that a lot of these guys were kind of losers before their channels made it big and you can just sense that desperation to never go back to that W-2 lifestyle. It's as you said like back in the 2010s all of these channels kept calling out gaming journalists cringe or having no integrity while it took until the Xbox360 debacle for people to notice just how often these guys would promote stuff without disclosing it was paid or even heck, being for sale to the highest bidder! How many of these content creators have we busted for taking any and all sponsors their way no matter how shady and it just keeps on happening?

@@Metalninja89 "The public will notice these types of people and follow them" No they fucking won't. The internet runs on groupthink, whether that's mainstream groupthink, Reddit groupthink, or "guy with the most clout" groupthink. If you give fair criticism to a game people are hyped for (i.e. showing integrity) you get fucking crucified. Just like what happened when GameSpot gave lukewarm reviews to Skyward Sword, Cyberpunk, and Starfield. If you express opinions counter to whatever the current Gamer(tm) hivemind consensus is, you mocked and torn apart endlessly. @williamdrum9899 is right, if you want to make it as a gaming "influencer" your only option is to read the room, figure out what the current Popular Opinion is, and repeat it back to them. He would then repeat that process for 15-20mins which was the most obvious problem. Chris says he “enjoys” a movie, but doesn’t give specific examples, or maybe give one short one. His “review” consisted of: a brief synopsis, naming the director and actors, and say “[insert actor] gives a great performance”. He says next to nothing that the viewer could use as a guide to whether they would like watching the movie. And if the defence is “I don’t want to spoil it” then there’s no sense in your review because saying “I liked it” is too vague to be useful as a review to anyone. I used to watch YongYea for gaming news, but eventually stopped for the following: - Recycled videos. - Being disingenuous, and sounding like an article, rather than an honest review. - Clout chaser. - Massive hypocrite. - Can't take criticism. Is high on copium. - Retracting statements just to follow the crowd. It's a pattern. The whole Yakuza voice acting mess is a clear example of all of the above. He milked tf out of him being the English VA for Kiryu, online and even in video titles, and was 100% confident that he did an amazing job. It's literally just Yong Yea using his normal speaking voice. He has no range and can't emote. Him saying "I earned Kiryu" was so absurd, it reminded me if the original Bayonetta VA situation.

Unpopular opinion, he's only popular as a voice actor because he's riding the hell out of his youtube fame. His Father Pucci voice acting isn't even as good as people makes it up to be since he over exhales every sentence to sounds smart and majestic which sums up his voice acting skills: being a tryhard. Stopped watching this fool since his CP2077 review fraud, and glad to see he is being lambasted for his garbage performance as Kiryu after months of shitting on Chris Pratt's Mario voice.

I like how everyone watched an anime and then decided CP2077 is the most amazing thing ever. Maybe I just got lucky and it liked my hardware or something, but on PC the game was never bad. The technical issues were there, but mainly consisted of certain assets not showing correctly (street signs floating without the pole, people doing drinking animations, but their bottle not displaying right, etc). Most people just hated on it because it was, basically, an open world immersive sim, but they wanted it to be the next Grand Theft Auto.

Currently Yong is just another KZbinr that uses their position to get voice acting parts in games and lacks any self awareness. Which is funny, because SphereHunter Suzi is no different but no one seems to want to call her out on the obvious hypocrisy. She gave CyberPunk overly positive coverage, pretended there was no issues, continues to act like they don’t exist to this day and she was rewarded by being put in the expansion for the game as an actual character. Much like Yong, they’re using their position to get voice roles in games, while getting free stuff so they can talk positively about it in return.

For me, the real telling thing about Yong's character was the Quantum Error situation from last year. For those of you who don't know. Quantum Error was a terrible asset flip that both looked and played like shit that launched late last year as a PS5 Exclusive. And the only reason that anyone even knows that Quantum Error exists is because the devs promoted the game by console warring on Twitter, claiming that the PS5's SSD was the only thing that could run the game and that's why it wasn't coming to Xbox or PC, and they were also retweeting PlayStation fanboy posts saying things like "This game only got a low score because they didn't have paid Xbox Shill sites supporting it, and this game is way better than Starfield, etc." Despite this being a scummy developer using console wars to spread misinformation to promote their game, Yong refused to cover this situation, despite doing multiple videos on devs who have done far less in the past. Turns out he voice acted for Quantum Error. Not suspicious at all

@@ex_cathedra4237 Most of the time? Voice actors aren't under contractual obligation to not say anything. They are typically allowed to have their opinions.. How in the hell can you still want to voice act a product, if you are being told no matter how good or bad the product is, to keep your mouth shut? That doesn't scream red flag to anyone else? So, not only is Yong a hypocritical sellout, but a massive dumbass, if your logic is to be believed. I'm sorry, but that isn't a good look for him, no matter how hard one tries to justify it. Yeah.. Look I can't trust those reviewers when they have so much skin in the game. They want the early access, they want exclusive preview parties, free merchandise from the publishers, sponsorships and they are only human so it's going to influence their reviews, even when they don't mean it to. Personally I don't have any issues with him at all regarding his Cyberpunk review. The reason why I dislike YongYea is because he very strongly focuses on negative topics while claiming to be a general gaming news channel. When I first came across his channel I thought his videos looked quite professional, so I subscribed. But after a while of watching him I was like "wait a second, does this guy only cover negative topics?". So I looked at his most recent 50 or so videos at the time and indeed 90% of them were about negative topics. He doesn't cover gaming news. He covers negative gaming news. He made over 30 different videos shitting on Google Stadia, even though most people quickly moved on from caring about that product in any way. He will jump at any opportunity to make a negative video. But he only rarely covers positive news and mostly just about the biggest AAA releases. If someone doesn't know anything about gaming and looks at his channel to learn about the scene they might think that it's a complete disaster all around. If you instead follow someone like Skill Up you will get a way more balanced impression and also hear about many great games that are coming out every month. Life is depressing enough, so I don't need someone to make it more miserable by specifically telling me about all the negative things that are happening in gaming. That's why I unsubscribed from YongYea and now follow Skill Up instead. He still talks about the negative news as well and doesn't sweep them under the rug but he doesn't focus on them so exclusively.
