i've been really enjoying balatro and a couple of other roguelikes/lites recently. this was a pretty fun run that i had that i wanted to share. i probably won't be uploading too many more runs, might just keep this to a stream game though.

It's a "simple" game with a high skill ceiling, and a very nice art style with great sound design. You can tell the dev put a lot of passion into it.

Keep in mind for Blue Joker you never get it's full potential, each card you draw lowers the amount of chips it gives

The biggest thing I've learned while playing is that steel cards are a trap unless you have the one joker that gives Xmult for steel cards in your deck. They are applied before all of your jokers so you basically only get them applied to the base value of the hand. 10/10 game BTW

I have a love/hate relationship with Balatro so far. lol It feels like the boss blinds in the latter half of the antes are handcrafted to fuck you in this game. The roguelike aspects of this game are a lot more subtle than in most of the genre. You unlock different kinds of jokers and decks to use during the game, but there isn’t anything that directly improves your performance per run. The cards that appear in the shop aren’t really based off your run either. I had a run where I focused on flushes with spades, and all the tarot cards I had appear would change cards to every other suit. The jokers were a similar situation. It was aggravating. lmao It’s still really fun though. I’d thoroughly recommend this game.

The Blue Joker gets worse the more you have to fish through your deck for Queens so the mult was probably better.
